SCIENTIFIC POSTER GUIDELINE


THEME
Travel medicine - Places to go, things to prepare, and problems to foresee.
TARGETS
Medical students, medical professionals, policy makers
OBJECTIVE
1. To provide a platform for medical students to exchange knowledge among countries
regarding travel-related health issues.
2. To recognize travel-related health issues and acknowledge various policies implemented to
tackle the current travel-related problems.
3. To acknowledge the role of medical students, healthcare professions, community and
government in handling travel-related problems efficiently and effectively
GENERAL GUIDELINE
1. Provide a brief introduction of travel health problem(s) which is considered important in
Indonesia. The introduction should include
A. Pathological basis of the disease(s)
B. Prevalence of the disease(s)
C. Reason(s) why you choose this topic.
2. Develop your scientific poster using clinical-based research methods (i.e. cross-sectional
study, cohort study, case- control study, systemic review etc). It can be drawn from literature
reviews of previous studies or new unpublished studies.
3. Give a detailed overview that should include :
a) Vaccination and immunization
b) Pre and Post travel counseling
c) Efficacy and/or non-efficacy of current management of the disease(s)
4. Propose a preventive measure(s) to control health-related problems, guide the role of
patient, medical professionals, community and government participating in and
outline how medical students can help to alleviate this problem.

THEME

Public
OBJECTIVE
1. To raise the awareness of the significance of seeking pre-travel heath advices an
preparations (immunization, pre travel, pre travel consultation, preparation of medical kit)
2. To share the effective current management of travel-related health problems in each country.
3. To propose strategies how general public can participate in improving the travel related
health management.
GENERAL GUIDELINE
1. Introduce a travel-related health problem which is considered important in Indonesia.
2. Describe the effective current management of travel-related health problem(s) in Indonesia
include :
1.

Pre-travel consultation

2.

Emergency planning during the travel

3.

Post-travel follow-up and care

3. Propose possible ways that general public can participate in management of this
problem.
4. The end product (public poster) will consist mainly of graphics and designs.

SPEECH COMPETITION GUIDELINE


THEME
Travel medicine - Places to go, things to prepare, and problems to foresee.
TOPIC
The role of pre-travel consultation of modern medicine
TARGETS
Public
OBJECTIVE
1. To provide opportunities for medical students to think critically and express their thoughts
clearly in public by delivering a speech about the roles of pre-travel consultation of modern
medicine in the context of their countries.
2. To provide an opportunity for proficient speakers to gain contest experience.
3. To provide an opportunity for those not participating in the contest to learn by observing
proficient speakers.
4. To inspire the audience about interesting travel-related health issues.
GENERAL GUIDELINE
The speech must emphasize on the significance of the role of pre-travel consultation of modern
medicine with respect to healthy travelers and special groups of travelers e.g. pregnant women,
the infants and children, the elderly, patients and also foreign students.

SUBMISSION PROSEDURE &DEADLINE


1. AMSA-university can submit more than 1 works (Scientific poster, public poster, video and
speech competition) in each branch.
2. Timeline Submission:
a. Softcopy submission : 25th February 2013, 23:59 WIB (GMT+7)
Scientific poster : Abstract + poster
Public poster : Abstract + Poster
Video : Abstract
Speech : Abstract
Softcopy can be sent to academicandresearch@amsaindonesia.com with title:

PCC-

AMSC2014- Scientific poster/ Public poster/ Video/ Speech competition -University (e.g.
PCC-AMSC2014-Paper-Undip)
b. Hardcopy submission : Collect your hardcopy via representative or coordinator of
academic. Representative or AMSA-university delegates of IMSTC can give hardcopy to
Secretary of Academic at IMSTC 2014.
Scientific poster : Abstract + poster (2 exemplars)
Public poster : Abstract + Poster (2 exemplars)
Video : Abstract (2 exemplars + 1 CD)
Speech : Abstract (3 exemplars + 1 CD)
3.

Each AMSA-university must collect all the work and must submit those together.
(Representative or Coordinator of Academic can collect all their members works)

4.

There will be no toleration for all the late submissions.

5.

Members of Team can be from different AMSA-university

6.

The winner team in each branch will represent AMSA-Indonesia to Academic Competition
AMSC 2014 (Seat quota will be informed later)

7.

The winner team must present their work to member AMSA-Indonesia in national event
before AMSC 2014 (Monev maybe will be held in NLT or Munas).

8.

Scientific poster/ Public poster/ Video/ Speech competition must have not be
submitted or published (oral or written) in conference, congress, journal, or all event
like competition, except IMSTC 2014.

2013/2014 are final.
All author(s) MUST BE member of AMSA-Indonesia
The Executive Boards of AMSA-Indonesia 2013/2014 has the right to reproduce

credits submitted incorrectly by the person entering.
