Die kommentierte englische bersetzung "On the Sensations of Tone as a
These 'Helmholtz-Ellis' Accidentals for Just Intonation were devised in collaboration with Marc Sabat who also designed the computer fonts.
The attached arrows denoting the pitch alteration by a Syntonic Comma are a mere transcription of the notation introduced by Hermann von
The annotated English translation "On the Sensations of Tone as a Physiological Basis for the Theory of Music" (published 1875/1885)
was made by Alexander J. Ellis, who also introduced a refinement of pitch definition within the Twelvetone-System of Equal Temperament,
dividing the octave into 1200 cents. The accidental sign denoting the alteration of a Septimal Comma was invented by Guiseppe Tartini
(1692-1770), the composer-violinist and scientist who investigated the difference tones created by double-stops.
