WHY SHOULD YOUR ORGANISATION

THINK ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH?
We all talk about physical health. Every half marathon is celebrated, and
how a cough wont shift is discussed at length. The fitness and wellness
or otherwise of our colleagues is a part of our office life. However some
subjects are not discussed and they usually involve our minds.
Mental health is often thought of as a measure of unhappiness,
imbalance or even mental illness. Instead, mental health is a measure
of the state of our minds. It is a key determinant of the workplace
environment as it affects employee productivity and team relationships.
Sleeplessness, changes in eating habits and increased alcohol
consumption can, for example, be signs of mental health issues although
typically we may not think of them in this way.
Every year, mental health issues will affect around one in four or us, but
we keep silent in the workplace because of the fear that it will affect our
employment. And of those of us with common mental health issues, such
as anxiety or depression, 55 to 70% of us are in work 1.

and manage better mental health, which will support and help retain their
staff.
COMPLY WITH LEGISLATION
The Equality Act 2010 makes it illegal to discriminate against someone with one of a
group of protected characteristics that includes physical and mental impairment, age,
gender, disability, race, sexual orientation or religion.
Our training helps leaders understand and comply with this employee
legislation.
