FACIAL CARE

Facial Makeup Products are products that are used to color and highlight facial
features. They can either directly add or alter color or can be applied over a foundation
that serves to make the color even and smooth.
The following are the facial makeup products:

CONCEALERS
- are products that are intended to conceal or cover up skin imperfections on the face. They
typically work by applying color to the skin or through other effects such as the reflection of light or
the shininess of the skin. They can be applied using a brush, cloth or spray and are typically used in
conjunction with Foundations. Concealers contain ingredients that apply color where it is needed in
a precise and controlled manner. Concealers safety is established by selection of ingredients that
are safe and suitable for this purpose.

Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil


- Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil is a vegetable oil obtained from the seeds of the Ricinus
communis plant. A number of ingredients made from Castor Oil may also be used in cosmetic
products.
Talc
- Talc, also known as French chalk, is powdered hydrous magnesium silicate sometimes containing a
small amount of aluminum silicate. It is a naturally occurring whitish-gray mineral.
Kaolin
- Kaolin is a clay-like ingredient that is based on silicates. In cosmetics and personal care products,
it is one of the ingredient that is used in a wide variety of product types, including bath products,
makeup and skin care products.
Fragrances
- Fragrances are complex combinations of natural and/or man-made substances that are added to
many consumer products to give them a distinctive smell. Fragrances are used in a wide variety of

Colorants
-Colorants are ingredients that, alone or in combination with other ingredients, impart or alter the
color of the product. The visual perception of color occurs primarily by the absorption and/or
reflection of visible light by the product and corresponds to humans seeing red, yellow, blue, green,
black, etc. Such color derives from the wavelength spectrum of light interacting with the light
receptor cells in the eye and sending a message to the brain.
Dimethicone
-Dimethicone, also known as polydimethylsiloxane, is a silicon-based polymer that is a man-made
synthetic molecule made up of repeating units called monomers. Dimethicone can also be found in
many cooking oils, processed foods and in fast food items such as chicken nuggets and French fries.
Hydrolyzed Rice Bran Protein
-Hydrolyzed Rice Bran Protein may also be used in cosmetics and personal care products. The
ingredients made from rice may be used in a wide varity of cosmetics and personal care products.
Mineral Oil
- Mineral Oil is a clear liquid that is used in a wide variety of cosmetics and personal care products.

Oleyl Alcohol
- Stearyl Alcohol, Oleyl Alcohol and Octyldodecanol are long chain fatty alcohols. Stearyl Alcohol is a
white, waxy solid with a faint odor, while Oleyl Alcohol and Octyldodecanol are clear, colorless
liquids. These three ingredients are found in a wide variety of products such as hair conditioners,
foundations, eye makeup, skin moisturizers, skin cleansers and other skin care products.
Water
- Water is used in the formulation of virtually every type of cosmetic and personal care product. It
can be found in lotions, creams, bath products, cleansing products, deodorants, makeup,
moisturizers, oral hygiene products, personal cleanliness products, skin care products, shampoo,
hair conditioners, shaving products, and suntan products.
Glycerin
- Glycerin is a sugar alcohol that can be obtained from natural sources or can be synthesized. In
cosmetics and personal care products Glycerin may be found in soaps, toothpaste, shaving cream,
and skin and hair care products.
Glyceryl Stearate
- Glyceryl Stearate and Glyceryl Stearate SE are esterification products of glycerin and stearic acid.
Glyceryl Stearate is a white or cream-colored wax-like solid.
Hydrolyzed Corn Starch
- Many ingredients made from the corn plant, Zea mays may be used in cosmetics and personal
care products.
Sodium Chloride
- Sodium Chloride, or table salt, is a white crystalline solid. In cosmetics and personal care products,
Sodium Chloride is used in the formulation of oral hygiene products, shampoos, fragrance, skin,
hair, nail, cleansing, suntan, makeup and bath products.

food to drugs and cosmetics. It also plays a critical role in some sunscreen products as a way to protect skin
from the suns harmful ultraviolet radiation.

Carbomer
-It is a term used for a series of polymers primarily made from acrylic acid. The Carbomers are white, fluffy
powders but are frequently used as gels in cosmetics and personal care products. Carbomers can be found in a
wide variety of product types including skin, hair, nail, and makeup products, as well as dentifrices.
Botanical Ingredient
-It is a component of a cosmetic or personal care product that originates from plants (herbs, roots, flowers,

Stearic Acid

Propylene glycol
-It is also known as 1,2-propanediol, is a synthetic (i.e., man-made) organic alcohol that
attracts/absorbs water.
Lecithin
-It is a naturally occuring mixture of the diglycerides of stearic, palmitic and oleic acids, linked to
the choline ester of phosphoric acid whose form varies from a waxy mass to a thick, pourable
liquid. Hydrogenated Lecithin is the product of controlled hydrogenation (addition of hydrogen)
of Lecithin. Lecithin and Hydrogenated Lecithin are used in the formulation of a large number of
cosmetics and personal care products.
Butylene Glycol
- Butylene Glycol, Hexylene Glycol, Ethoxydiglycol and Dipropylene Glycol are clear, practically
colorless, liquids. In cosmetics and personal care products, these ingredients are used in the
formulation of hair and bath products, eye and facial makeup, fragrances, personal cleanliness
products, and shaving and skin care products.
Cyclomethicone
Mineral Oil

brownish red. Rather than Tocopherol itself, esters of Tocopherol are often used in cosmetic and
personal care products.
Triethanolamine
-Triethanolamine, Diethanolamine and Ethanolamine are clear, colorless, viscous liquids with
ammonia-like odors. In cosmetics and personal care products, Triethanolamine is used in
makeup products such as eyeliners, mascara, eye shadows, blushers, make-up bases and
foundations, as well as in fragrances, hair care products, hair dyes, wave sets, shaving products,
sunscreens, and skin care and skin cleansing products. Diethanolamine and Ethanolamine are
used mostly in permanent waves and hair dyes and colors.

Silica
-It is also called silicone dioxide, and Hydrated Silica are minerals. The Silica used in cosmetics
and personal care products is amorphous Silica. This means that the Silica has no definite form.
Crystalline silica, which has a specific arrangement of the atoms, is not used in cosmetics and
personal care products.Hydrated Silica has additional water atoms bound to Silica.

Ascorbyl Palmitate

to vitamin C and the sodium salt of vitamin C. Ascorbyl Palmitate, Ascorbyl Dipalmitate and
Ascorbyl Stearate are used primarily in makeup products. Erythorbic Acid and Sodium
Erythorbate are used primarily in hair and nail products.
Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax
-It is also called Carnauba Wax, is obtained from the leaves of the Brazilian tropical palm tree.
Tocopherol Acetate
-It is the esters of Tocopherol are often used in cosmetic and personal care products.
Magnesium Aluminum Silicate
-is a clay-like ingredient that is based on silicates. In cosmetics and personal care products, it is
one of the ingredient that is used in a wide variety of product types, including bath products,
makeup and skin care products.

Sorbitan Sesquiisostearate
-Sorbitan Caprylate, Sorbitan Cocoate, Sorbitan Diisostearate, Sorbitan Dioleate, Sorbitan Distearate,
Sorbitan Isostearate, Sorbitan Olivate, Sorbitan Sesquiisostearate, Sorbitan Sesquistearate and Sorbitan
Triisostearate are waxy solids or viscous liquids. These esters are mono-, di-, and triesters of fatty acids and
sorbitol. In cosmetics and personal care products, these ingredients are used in a variety of products
including skin care products, moisturizers, cleansing products, and eye and facial makeup.
Silica
-It is also called silicone dioxide, and Hydrated Silica are minerals. The Silica used in cosmetics

Zinc Oxide

Alcohol Denat.
-It is the general name used for denatured alcohol. In the United States, Alcohol and Alcohol Denat. are
regulated by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) of the Department of Treasury. They
specify how alcohol is denatured and the types of products in which the specific denatured alcohols are
permitted for use.
