Dear City of Minneapolis,
Please accept this letter of support regarding Community Action Partnership of Suburban
Hennepins (CAPSH) submission to be the designated community action agency for all of
Hennepin County, including the City of Minneapolis.
CAPSH has been a community partner with Brooklyn Center Community Schools for over eight
years which has involved supporting the needs of students/families and the community through
our full-service community school model; the school provides onsite supports/services, posing
as the hub of the community in efforts of reducing barriers to access.
By establishing a partnership with Community Action Partnership of Suburban Hennepin
(CAPSH), we were able to develop an onsite Family Resource Room at two of our schools where
CAPSH helped to support our efforts through donations and onsite services and resources. The
partnership with CAPSH has allowed us to better meet the needs of our community through
services provided onsite such as energy assistance, legal aid, tax and financial services, resource
navigation and more. Our collaborative efforts have resulted in community impact, allowing our
full-service community school model to provide onsite services (through partnerships) as well as
expand services to better meet the needs of the community; supporting those to become selfsufficient and successful.
Our partnership with CAPSH is invaluable and greatly needed within our community. The staff
are committed and dedicated to supporting the needs of its clients and works relentlessly to
ensure that the needs of clients are met. This is one partner that I can attest to wholeheartedly
that they truly are in the business of supporting and building up others to become independent
and confident in their abilities to live healthy and successful lives. They are partners of dignity
and great quality and hope to partner with this agency for many years to come!
