Last Sunday we organized a fundraiser for WA Bushfire victims as part of our Australia Day celebrations. As part
of Collaborative Communities Network, Fillipino Australian Multicultural Association and Multicultural Womens
Association extended their hand of support while the venue was provided in kind by Manning Senior Citizen
Centre. Bindaas Beats and Expedition band entertained the guests while food was provided by Aylanto Caf
(Rockingham), Caf Punjabi (Victoria Park) and Platinum Restaurant (Wanneroo Road).
Hon. Margaret Quirk, the Shadow Minister for Multicultural Interests provided a voucher for lunch with her at the
WA Parliament House for auction. Office of Multicultural Interests and Department of Social Services assisted in
disseminating the event.
A number of ladies including Hina Arshee, Ifra Khokar, Tazeen Kazi, Naheed Hayat, Shehla Shah and Caroline
Martin helped in collection of new and pre loved Pakistani dresses for sale, not to mention young Ayla (pictured
on cover) brought her collection of story books and dvd sets for sale.
We also received balloons and flags form Australia Day Council for our regular morning tea at work which were
used to decorate the venue.
In all, we raised $1450 which will be transferred to the lord mayor distress fund tomorrow. Thanks to all of you
who came together with in a span of ten days and worked together. If we had more time we could have raised
more but our priority at this time was to get funds as soon as possible.
There was also a request made by the members that we need to have an Australia Day event every year in
Australia which allows interaction with other communities in addition to holding an event in Pakistan. It is not an
easy task but I am sure we can undertake it and will have further discussion at our Annual General Meeting in
April. Once again Thanks to Everyone.

Pakistan Cultural Association is celebrating the Pakistan day with the hope for a better future for our beloved
motherland and celebrating this day with a Dua (Prayer) and with Fanna-Fi-Allah group. Fanna-Fi-Allahs
passionate devotional music is a leading representation of Sufi Qawwali music worldwide. With their rich
rhythmic grooves, soaring vocal melodies and the bright intensity of their live performances, Fanna-Fi-Allah urges
us to lift our hearts in exaltation and devotion to the Divine. Fanna-Fi-Allah embodies an authentic continuation
of the ancient tradition of Sufi music. Key members of the group have spent over 20 years in dedicated study with
the masters of this classical art-form in Pakistan and India and are deeply respected throughout the subcontinent.
During their 15 years of world-wide touring in places as diverse as the USA, Pakistan, Europe, Indonesia, India and
Egypt, they have captivated audiences with their dynamic passion and skill, and continue to deepen the
appreciation for this great Sufi (Wali Allah) tradition in the West. For details: pakistan.cultural@gmail.com

family of young Jameel Malik, it was a very special day as he is ranked in
the top 2.5% of the year 4 (state wide) cohort in Western Australia and is
included in the South Metro Region Primary Extension and Challenge
program. Congratulations and best wishes for a bright future ahead.
