Speech is of two kinds, fo1mal and informal. We present formal speech


methodically, whereas into-rmal speech is often spontaneous. In most cases, the
presenter of formal speech gets tirne to plan, organize, reheatse and even
memorise the speech. It is quite oommon these days to use audio-visual aids to
make presentations. Presentations are made in forms such as conferonces,
serninars, workshops, meetings and even classrooms. This tlpe of speaking
closely resembles the written form of language. Although it is often stated that
spoken language is not written language spoken out, in the case of
presentations, the language has to have the characteristics of written language.
For an effective presentation, matter and manner are both very important but
the content has a stright edge over the manner of delivery

story tells that two friends were walking through the desert. During some
point of the journey they had an argument, and one friend slapped the other one
in the face. The one who got slapBed was hurt, btrt without sa)rlng anything,
wrote in the sand. "Today My Best Friend Slapped Me In the Face."

They kept on walking until they found an oasis, where they decided to take a
bath. The one, who had been slapped, got stuck in the mire and started
drowning, but the friend saved him. After the friend recovered from the near
