LITURGY OF THE WORD

FIRST READING (NATY Y. BERNARDINO)
Naty

: A Reading from the Book of Genesis (2, 18-24)

Then the Lord God said, It is not good for the man to live alone. I will make
a suitable companion to help him. So he took some soil from the ground
and formed all the animals and all the birds. Then he brought them to the
man to see what he would name them; and that is how they all got their
names. So the man named all the birds and all the animals; but not one of
them was a suitable companion to help him. Then the Lord God made the
man fall into a deep sleep, and while he was sleeping, he took out one of
the mans ribs and closed up the flesh. He formed a woman out of the rib
and brought her to him. Then the man said, At last, here is one of my own
kind -- bone taken from my bone, and flesh from my flesh. Woman is her
name because she was taken out of man. That is why a man leaves his
father and mother, and is united with his wife and they become one.
The Word of the Lord.

All

: Thanks be to God.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM (ROMEL M. ATIENZA)

Romel

: Let our response be: Happy the man who takes delight in the Lords
command. Please repeat.
Happy the man who fears the Lord, who takes delight in his commands. His
sons will be powerful on earth; the children of the upright are blessed. R

All
Romel :

: Happy the man who takes delight in the Lords command.

Riches and wealth are his house; his justice stands firm for ever. He is a
light in the upright: he is generous, merciful and just. R

All

: Happy the man who takes delight in the Lords command.

Romel

: The good man takes pity and lends, he conducts his affair with honor. The
just man will never waver: he will be remembered for ever. R

All

: Happy the man who takes delight in the Lords command.

Romel

: He has no fear of evil news; with a firm heart he trusts in the Lord. With a
steadfast heart he will not fear; he will see the downfall of his foes. R

All

: Happy the man who takes delight in the Lords command.

Romel

: Open-handed, he gives to the poor; his justice stands firm for ever. His
head, will be raised in glory. R

All

: Happy the man who takes delight in the Lords command.

SECOND READING (FRANCO A. ATIENZA)

Franco

: A reading from the first letter of Paul to the Corinthians

(12:31, 13:1-7)
Set your hearts on the greater gifts. I will show you the way which surpasses
all the others. If I speak with human tongues and angelic as well, but do not
have love, I am a noisy gong a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of
prophecy and, with full knowledge, comprehend all mysteries, if I have faith
great enough to move everything I have to feed the poor and hand over my
body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient; love is kind. Love is not jealous, it does not put on airs, it is
not snobbish. Love is never rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not prone to
anger; neither does it brood over injuries. Love does not rejoice in what is
wrong but rejoices with the truth. There is no limit to loves forbearance, to
its trust, its hope, its power to endure.
This is the Word of the Lord.

All

: Thanks be to God.

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION
Meng

: Let us all rise to honor the Gospel.

Choir / All: Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Meng

: If we love one another, God lives in union with us, and his love is perfect in
us.

Choir / All: Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

THE GOSPEL (FR. JOHN MARA)

Fr. Mara: The Lord be with you.
All

: And with your spirit.

Fr. Mara :
All

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew (19: 3-6)

: Glory to you, O Lord.

Fr. Mara : Some Pharisees came to him and tried to trap him by asking Does our Law
allow a man to divorce his wife for whatever reason he wishes? Jesus
answered, Havent you read the Scripture that says that in the beginning,
the Creator made people male and female? And God said, For this reason,
a man will leave his father and mother and unite with his wife, and the two
will become one. So they are no longer two but one. Man must not
separate, then, what God has joined together.
The Gospel of the Lord.
All

: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

HOMILY

MARRIAGE RITES
LIGHTING OF THE CANDLES
Meng :

May we ask Butch and Joy to light the candles.

(Butch and Joy will now light the candles.)

THE RENEWAL OF MARRIAGE VOWS

Meng

: (May we ask Juanito and Raquel to stand and the Principal sponsors stand
beside them.)

Archbishop Lavarias : Dearly beloved Juanito and Raquel you stand here today
before the Lord to give Him thanks for having shown you His love in a very
special way when He blessed and consecrated your love on the day of your
marriage. Assuring you to stand by your side in your every need, He
entrusted the success of your married life to you as a task and a gift. You
thank Him now for all these years of shared joys and sacrifices, perhaps
also sorrows and struggles which are part of life. You still need Him now,
that you may continue on the way of love and loyalty which cannot but go on

growing. This Christian community rejoices with you and asks the Lord with
you that he may bless you and keep you in His love.
May I ask you, dear brothers and sisters, to join Juanito and Raquel in
giving thanks to the Lord for His goodness and in praying that they may
grow together living in Gods love.
Archbishop Lavarias : (Addressing the couple) Now, please join your right hands.
Archbishop Lavarias (to Juanitol) :Juanito,, do you re-affirm your married love and
fidelity to Raquel before God and this community?
Juanito : Yes, I do.
Archbishop Lavarias (to Raquel) : Raquel,, do you re-affirm your married love and
fidelity to Juanito before God and this community?
Raquel

: Yes, I do.

Archbishop Lavarias : Please pray now together the prayer for Gods blessing:
Juanito and Raquel : Lord God, whose name is love, once you made our ways meet
and called us to find a home and a family. We look back with gratitude on
the years You have given us together. Help us to avoid the mistakes of the
past and sustain our love with Your love, that, in ever-growing unity of heart
and soul, we may reach together Your unending marriage feast in heaven.
Bless this our wish and task.
Arcbishop Lavarias : May the Lord God confirm once more the consent which you
have renewed before Him and before the Church which I and this
community represent. And may Almighty God bless you now and continue
blessing your union, the Father, and the son, and the Holy Spirit.
All

: Amen.

(The principal sponsors may now go to their seat)

BLESSING OF ARRHAE AND RING

Meng : May we request the bearer of the rings, Johnnoel, and the bearer of coins,
Jerico.
Archbishop Lavarias : Juanito and Raquel, we shall now bless your rings. These
rings are the outward and visible sign of an inward and spiritual grace,
signifying to us the union between Jesus Christ, and his Church.

Bless O Lord, the wearing of these rings. Grant that these couple Juanito
and Raquel may live what these rings signify true faith in each other,
mutual and unbroken loyalty. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
All

: Amen

Archbishop Lavarias :

Now give these rings to one another.

Juanito

: With this ring, I once again pledge myself to you Raquel with all the
affections of my heart as long as we both shall live. In the name of the
Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen

Raquel

: With this ring, I once again pledge myself to you Juanito with all the
affections of my heart as long as we both shall live. In the name of the
Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen

Archbishop Lavarias : Bless O Lord, your servants Juanito and Raquel with
sufficiency of material possessions which these arrhae symbolizes so that
they may use them to attain eternal life. These are the token of the earthly
blessings. These are symbols of rich, abundant blessings which you both
received and not separately, but together.
Juanito and Raquel : Dear God, we are grateful for these earthly blessings we have
received and used these resources realizing that whatever gifts we have in
life, are not ours ultimately but Gods. As guardians and stewards of Gods
gifts, we thank Him for these blessings which we provided also to our
childrens well- being and security.
Juanito

: Raquel, I give you this arrhae as a continuous pledge of my dedication to

you and our family. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy
Spirit.

Raquel

: I accept them as a continuing symbol of the responsibility of nurturing our

family with you and in the same way I renew my pledge of dedication and
concern for you.

Archbishop Lavarias : God be your provider, Juanito and Raquel and always be
thankful for Gods generosity and faithfulness throughout your lives together.
Amen

It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and
everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, Holy Father, almighty and eternal
God, through Christ our Lord.
For in him you have made a new covenant with your people, so that
as you have redeemed man and woman by the mystery of Christs death
and resurrection, so in Christ you might make them partakers of divine
nature and joint heirs with him of heavenly glory.
In the union of husband and wife you give a sign of Christs loving gift of
grace, so that the sacrament we celebrate might draw us back more
deeply into the wondrous design of your love.
