First Supplication
The first duaa was narrated by the Prophet (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) in Saheeh
Bukhari. It is narrated in many ahadeeth that the Prophet (sal Allahu alayhi wa
sallam) would consistently make this duaa, and many of the Companions heard him
repeat it over and over.

Allahumma inni audhubika minal hammi wal hazan, wal ajzi wal kasal,
wal bukhli wal jubn, wa dhalaid-dayni wa ghalabatir rijaal
O Allah! I seek refuge in You from grief and sadness, from weakness and
from laziness, from miserliness and from cowardice, from being overcome
by debt and from being overpowered by men.
Second Supplication
The second duaa is narrated by the Prophet (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) as one of
the Da'waat al Makroob, the supplications of the distressed.

Allahumma rahmataka arju fala takilni ila nafsi tarfata 'aynin wa aslih li
sha'ni kullahu la ilaha ila anta
O Allah, it is your mercy that I hope for, so do not leave me in charge of my affairs
even for a blink of an eye, and rectify for me all of my affairs. None has the right to
be worshiped except you.
When in distress or difficulty or sorrow:

1. Ibn Abbas reported, The Prophet, peace be upon him, at times of sorrow and
grief used to supplicate, La ilaha illa Allah Al-Azim, Al-Alim, la ilaha illa Allah,
Rabbul arshil Azim, la ilaha illa Allahu, Rabbus-Samawati wa rabbul ardi
wa rabbul arshi karim (There is no god but Allah, the Mighty, the Forbearing,
there is no god but Allah, the Lord of the mighty throne, there is no god but Allah,
the Lord of the heavens and the earth, and the Lord of the throne of honor).

2. Anas said that when the Prophet, peace be upon him, was faced with a serious
difficulty, he would always supplicate, Ya Hayyu, ya Qayyumu, bi-rahmatika
astaghithu (O the Living, O the Eternal, I seek help in Your grace).
Source: Tirmidhi
3. Abu Hurairah reported that whenever the Prophet, peace be upon him, was faced
with a serious difficulty, he would raise his head to the sky and supplicate,
Subhan-Allah al-Azim (glory be to Allah, the Mighty). And when he implored
seriously and strongly, he would say Ya Hayyu, Ya Qayyum (O the Living, the

Eternal One).

4. Abu Bakr (r) reported that the Prophet, peace be upon him, said, The
supplications of distress are, Allahumma rahmataka arju, fala takilni ila nafsi
tarfata ain, wa aslih li shani kullahu, la ilaha illa anta (O Allah, I hope for
Your mercy, so give me not over to my self even for as little as wink of an eye, and
set right all my affairs, there is no god but You).

(Recite three times in Arabic in the evening)

Whoever recites this three times in the evening will be protected from insect stings, Ahmad 2/ 290,
An-Nasa'i, 'Amalul-Yawm wal-Laylah no. 590, At-Tirmidhi 3/187, Ibn As-Sunni no. 68. According to AlAlbani, Ibn Majah's (2/266) chain of transmission is sound (Sahih), and following Ibn Baz 45, AtTirmidhi's report is good (Hasan).
Recite these three times each in Arabic. Al-Ikhlas 112:1-4. - Al-Falaq 113:1-5. - An-Nas 114:1-6 Whoever recites these three times in the morning and in the evening, they will suffice him (as a
protection) against everything. The Hadith was reported by Abu Dawud 4/322, and At-Tirmidhi 5/567.
