First Aid Training: Levels 1, 2 & 3

Overview
First aid is the initial treatment given by non-professional medical personnel to
a person to assist in the treatment of a person in the case of an emergency.
First Aid Levels 1, 2 and 3 each in turn equips the learner with life-saving
knowledge and skill at varying levels. Learners can rest assured that the
training is Department of Labour accredited and complies with the
Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993 as amended). Training is
presented within the legal requirements of the act.

First Aid Level 1


The First Aid Level 1 programme complies with the requirements as laid down
in the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993 as amended). All
your employees will find the Level 1 First Aid programme will assist them in any
day to day first aid emergencies. The programme emphasises the practical
application of first aid.
Programme Covers

Basic principles of first aid


Management of the scene around the victim
Basic one person CPR
Medical emergencies like choking, allergic reactions, fainting, diabetes,
stroke, seizures and shock
Injury emergencies includes bleeding, wounds, head & spinal injuries,
fractures, sprains, burns and electrocution
Environmental emergencies such as snake and insect bites, stings and
poisoning

First Aid Level 2


First Aid Level 2 is more advanced than the Level 1 and covers the contents of
First Aid Level 1 and 2. Learners who have successfully complete this
programme will be able to apply their knowledge in CPR, splinting, bandaging
and management of bleeding. First Aid Level 2 will give staff the confidence to
work in an emergency situation.

First Aid Level 3


First Aid Level 3 is a comprehensive first aid programme offering the learner an
opportunity to work in areas where basic medical support ion not readily
available or situations which demand comprehensive knowledge of first aid.
First Aid Level 3 covers all aspects covered in First Aid Level 1, 2 and 3.
Learners who have successfully completed this programme will be able to
apply their knowledge in CPR, splinting, bandaging, managing bleeding,
strokes, heart attacks, treating of a drowning patient as well as assisting in
childbirth. This programme will boost confidence dramatically in those required
to work in an emergency situation.
