I know you can celebrate the Resurrection of the Lord anywhere, but if watch, but almost everyone humbled

you weren’t here Sunday morning you missed it! WOW! What a
worship celebration we had! I want to commend Todd & Vickie Porter
for their hard work and vision for the service this past Sunday morning.
Of course, they can’t do it alone, and to all their help, THANK YOU!
I’m partial to the music ministry but I’ve just got to say it….. YOU
GUYS ARE THE BEST ANYWHERE!!!!! I worked with the video
from Sunday morning until midnight on Monday and I just can’t get
over how blessed we are here at Woodruff. Many of us hear the music
and see the displays year after year….. it’s easy to become “used to all
this”. I’m telling you, we are so blessed! I’ve watched a couple of
churches Easter Services and I know they were doing the best they
could, but we give God excellence and HE DESERVES THAT and
MORE. I’ve given this definition many times, but I want to make sure
you remember it and practice it. Excellence can be defined as “the best
you can, with what you have, at any given time”. It’s not just offering
any old thing to God….. it's giving Him the absolute best you can with
what you have at that particular time. That’s what God gave….. The
best He had….. JESUS. Aren’t you glad for that gift?
Then Sunday night, we experienced a mighty presence of the Lord.
We slowed down just a little and observed communion and foot
washing. I know this was a little out of order because the meal was
before Jesus death, but I thought it would be a wonderful time to do it
after having reflected on all that Jesus did on Calvary and then the
conquering of the grave! What a wonderful spirit we had and to top it
off…. 3 people gave their hearts to Jesus right before the sacraments of
communion were passed out!!!!! PRAISE THE LORD!!!!!!
After communion, we divided the ladies and the men into different
parts of the building to follow the example of Jesus….. After supper
had ended, Jesus took a basin of water and began to wash the disciples’
feet. Jesus was very clear and straight forward. “You ought to wash
one another’s feet”. “Follow the example I have given you”. I know
that some people just don’t like people seeing their feet, however I just
believe that if it was important enough for Jesus to do and then tell us
to follow His example, we should do it. To the best of my knowledge,
we had the most people attend the foot washing part of the service that
I have witnessed at Woodruff in my 23 years. There were around 40
men and 60 ladies…. WOW! Yes, some took up my invitation to
brother’s or sister’s feet. What an experience!!!! What a presence of
God filled the rooms!!!!! The men even had a special song sung at the
conclusion of the service.
I made the statement last Wednesday and again Sunday night….. I
want to make it one more time….. I don’t believe that we will
experience everything God wants to do for us until we learn to be
obedient to what His Word asks/tells us to do. I’m so ready for God to
fully pour Himself out that I’m willing to do WHATEVER He asks of
me. Is there anyone else to that point?
Fifty days after Passover was another feast that the Children of Israel
celebrated. It was called PENTECOST. During these next 6 to 8
weeks, we are going to be talking a lot about PENTECOST…… not so
much the feast, but what happened at Pentecost following Jesus’ death
and resurrection. IT IS IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!! I hope that you will
allow yourself to learn MORE and MORE about the Holy Ghost and
His importance in our lives and His function in our church. I told the
staff on Monday morning, we used to sing a song that went like this,
“I’ll sing about Him, shout about Him, talk about Him to everyone I
meet…. Let the Holy Ghost from Heaven fall on me.” Maybe we need
to sing about Him, shout about Him and talk about Him more than we
have this past year. Anybody with me on that one?
Mark your calendar: Community Outdoor service, Sunday May 2nd at
6:00 PM. Location is still tentative but hoping to have it on Main
Street. Community choir will be singing and special speaker is Adrian
Despres, Chaplin for the USC Football team. Make your plans to
participate as we reach out to the community!
