mountainpeaks.Therewerehundredsofthousandsofpreciousumbrellasand
varioustreespeciesadornedwithallkindsofperfumeandexquisiteclothstripes.
AllseniorArahatsMaudgalyayana(),Sariputra(),Ananda()
etc.atotalof1250peoplesurroundingtheBuddhatogetherwithuncountable
Bodhisattvas,VajrapaniBodhisattva,ManjusriBodhisattvaandallcomplete
seatedinthefrontseats.AgainthereareVaisravana,Brahmin,Parinayaka
(warriors),Brahman,Indra,Narayana,Nagas,Yaksa,Raksa,Pilita,Bhaisajya,
Kinara,Mahoragaetc.withtheirdependents.AllofthemsurroundingtheBuddha
andpresentingtheirofferingswithutmostrespect.

Atthetime,theBuddhawassittinginalionthronemadeofvariousprecious
stones.HewastopreachabouttheessentialpracticeofBodhisattvato
AvalokitesvaraBodhisattvaandtherest.

TheAvalokitesvarawhoisthegreatcompassionatebodhisattvacircledthe
Buddhatimesandputhisrobeonhisrightshoulder,kneeldownonhisrightknee
andclaspedhishandsinrespectfulmanner.HesaidtotheBuddha:Blessed
one,duetoonedharmathatgiverisetoloveandhappiness,greatcompassion,
hardworkingandbravethatgiverisetobenefitsandpeace.Toprotectallsentient
beings,thisissocalledkingofenlightenment.Asthenameimplieshenceitis
called:Thesupremeofthethreeworlds.NowIwishtopreachthisdharma.

UntiltheAvicinarakaandallhotnarakabecamecool.Unlimitedlightsshine
upwarduntiltheAkanistkaheaven.Hundredsofthousandsmusicautomatically
playedintheair.Thenaga,yaksa,kinaraetc.allpraisetheBuddhaand
AvalokitesvaraBodhisattva.Whilealldemonandobstaclecreaterssuchas
Vinayakacriedoutloud.AllheavenspraisedAvalokitesvara:

Sadhu,saduhthegreatcompassionateone,
Sadhutothebenefactorandsorrowremover,
Sadhu,sadhutheMahasattva,
Praisefortheonewhohasaccomplishedrighteousness.

AftertheAvalokitesvaraBodhisattvacompletedspeakingthemantra,hesaidto
theBuddha,Blessedone,thisheartmantracanpacifyanyillnesses,uphold
righteous,itcanalsoannihilate,increasebenefit,bestowbenefitsandhappiness.
ItwillletsentientbeingsstayinindependentSamaya.Itcanwalkintheairand
discoverhiddentreasuresitcanremovevariouspoisons,spiders,snakes,
scorpionsetc.Iwillinfluenceotherstobelovedandrespect.Itcanrevivethe
dead.Itwillprovideprotectionsagainstlions,tigers,wolf,bearsandrobbers.It
canbreakallblackcurses.Itwillbestowwishfulfillingjewelsandvases.Itrains
jewelsandwheelofswords.Itbestowsthestringsofgodsandlotusgarlands,
bathtubsandprayerrosaries.Itcanmakeriverandseadry,itcanprovidefoods
forallheavens,anditcanpresentsceneriesofvariousheavensandletanyone
makeuse.ItcanshaketheKingofMountSumeru.Itcansummonalltrees
whateveronewisheswillbeaccomplished.WhatevermethodsthatIhave
mentioned,ornotyetmentioninthepreciousrosaries,buildingsandMaitreya
kalpasshallbeaccomplishedalso.

SecondChapter:TheAccomplishmentOfActivities

Atthistime,AvalokitesvaraBodhisattvatoldBuddha:

Blessedone,iftherearedecentmenandwomen,whorecitethisheartmantra
casually,theytoowillbeprotectedfromallfear.Theywillnotbeharmedby
illnesses,whattheysaywillbetrusted.Theywillbebelovedbyallsentient
beings.Theywillnotbeattackedbygods,devata,yaksa,raksa,pilita,
Vaisravana,Ghandava,Mahoragaetc.Theywilldieinpeaceandthattheywill
notberebornintobadcompanies.Alltheirwarehousesshallbefilledalways.
Theywillgetgreatmantrasandcanremoveallsickness.Whentheydie,they
shallberebornintherealmofBuddhawithaccomplishedfeatures.

IwillfirsttalkabouttheHayagrivaAvalokitesvararitualwhichisamustpractise
mantratoattainsiddhi.Iftheblessedoneorotherpractitionerwantsto
accomplishsiddhi,hemustcleanhisbodywith5puresubstancesandalsoto
anoint(withcowdunk)anddecoratehisdwellingplace.Afterthat,heshould
obtainoraltransmissiononpropermantrapractices.Heshouldthenoffermilk,
incense,flower,light,flowergarland,foodandbeveragestotheBuddha.He
shouldrecitethemantraforasmanytimesashecouldwithinaperiodof7days.
Afterthat,heshoulddrawtheimageofIsthadevata.Thesizeofthedrawing
shouldbeoneelbowslength.Theartistshouldfirstundergothe8precepts.Use
newutensilsbutdontuseanimalgum.

AmatibahBuddhasittingonwhitelotusshouldbedrawninthecentre.Hisright
handismakingvaradamudra.OntheleftshouldbetheAvalokitesvara
Bodhisattva.Hisbodyiswhiteincolourwearingatigerhideskirt.Hehasawhite
glassgemwaistbeltandablackdeerhideashisshoulderpiece.Heissittingon
awhitelotus.Hislefthandisholdingawhitelotuswhilehisrighthandismaking
thevaradamudra.Howeverhedoesnotwearwreathsandarmlets.Ontheleft
shouldbetheVajrapaniBodhisattvaredandwhiteincolouradornedwithvarious

preciouswreaths.Heisholdingawhitewhiskandmakingtheactionofwhisking
theBuddha.AlltheBuddhaandBodhisattvasstaredatthepractitioner.The
practitionershouldkneeldownwithhisrightkneetouchingthegroundwhile
holdinganincenseburner.Heshouldlookattheholyimages.

Afterthecompletionofthesaiddrawing,ifheisapractitionerathome,thenhe
shouldholdthe8precepts.Heshouldtakeabathandchangeintonewwhite
clothingat3am.Startingfromthe1stdayofthemonth,heshouldofferwhite
flowerstotheBuddha.Heshouldmake1000stupas.Heshouldperformthe
preparatoryritualinfrontthesestupas.

Afterhehasrecited100,000times,allBrahmanKing,Mahesvara,Narayana,
Kubera,Mahakalaandthe7sisters,Garudaetcshallbetriumph.Whenheenters
intoallmandalaandachievessamayahenceallhismantrashallbe
accomplished.

Afterhehasrecited200,000times,VaisravanaKingandallyaksashallbefilled
withjoy.Afterhehasrecited300,000times,thenheshallaccomplishallmantras
intheVajradhatu.Afterhehasrecited400,000times,heshallaccomplishall
mantrasintheBuddhadhatu.

Thepractitionershouldfirstcompletetheabovepreparatorymethodfirst.Thenhe
shouldrecitemantra100,000timesinfrontoftheholyimages.Afterthatgotoa
mountainandrecite100,000times,thengotoariverbankandrecite100,000
timesandfinallyrecite100,000timesmantrainfrontofthestupas.Heshould
takethe8preceptsthen.Andheshouldcontinuetorecitethemantraasmany
timesashecouldin3daysinfrontoftheholyimages.Followbyfastingfor3
daysand3nights.

Heshouldpreparegenerousofferingsandprepare1000lotusandsmearthem
with3typesofsweet.Performahomaritualandoffertheentirelotustothefire.
Whenthisiscompleted,lightsshallbeemittedfromtheholyimages.Theselights
willcirclethepractitionerandthenenterintotheheadofAvalokitesvara.
Graduallythelightswillincreaseinintensity,andmusiccanbeheardintheair.At
thispoint,theearthwillstarttoshakevigorouslyinall4directions.

Thepractitionershouldunderstandthathehasachievedthesiddhiofmantra.He
cannowspeakout3wishes.Thesocalled:Vidyadhara,theindependent
samaya,VajraMitira(treaty)etc.IfaVidyadharaappears,heshallbethekingof
Vidyadharas.Hehasbeautifulbodyfeatures,whitehairsandPrussianbluein
colour.Heimmediatelytransformsintotheimageofan18yearsoldlad.Witha
clipofaneye,hecantravelhundredsofthousandsofyojana.Hislifeshallbe
500,000yearsandwhenhedied,heshallberebornintothekingdomofpeace.If
hewishedforindependentsamaya,thenitshallbethetopofallindependent
samayas.Whenhethinks,hecanmoveataspeedof1000yojanaandreturn.

Ifheisabletogetthethirdwish,thenhewillhavewadeandfreedomandthathe
canlivefor5000years.Ifhewantstohavelotusaccomplishment,thenheshould
carvealotuswithadiameterof6fingerswidewithrosewood.Heshouldputthis
rosewoodlotusontopof7layersofwhitelotusduringsolarorlunareclipsesin
frontoftheholyimage.Afterthatjustrecitemantrauntiltheappearanceof3
signs:Ifthelotusbecomeswarm,thanhehastheaccomplishmentofvajraraja.
Hehasthepowerof1000elephantsandalifespanof100,000years.Ifsmoke
emitted,thenthisistheaccomplishmentofindependentsamaya.Hehasthe
accomplishmentofbowlraja.Hecantake1/6ofotherswealthandthisisnot
calledtheft.Hewillhavealifespanof1000years.Ifitisthesignofaflame,then
hehasaccomplishedthemeaningofemptinessandbetheVidhyaraja.Hehas

thebodyofan18yearoldladandPrussianblueincolour.Hehasthestrengthof
6,000elephants.Heemitslightsasif100,000suns.Hewillhavelifespanof1
kalpa.Whenhedies,hewillberebornintoworldofsupremejoy.Assuchandthe
rest,bathtub,stringofgod,prayerbeads,magicwand,flowergarland,wheel,
sword,stick,beauty,ploughshare,axe,makingcattle,yellowshirt,realgar,
leather,slipper,mudra,vajra,Buddhatop,alms,bowl,cassock,shortknifeetc.All
oftheabovearethesameaswiththe3rdaccomplishmentoflotus.

ThirdChapter:TheAccomplishmentOfPreciousJewels

Ifyouwishtoaccomplishthewishfulfillinggems.Thenrecitetheheartmantra
500,000times.Thisisknownastheupfrontaccomplishment.Afterthatgetone
sapphireandperformaritualaslotusritualdescribedabove.Putthesapphireon
alotusduringsunormooneclipse.Reciteuntilyouseeflame.Later,whatever
youwishwillbefulfilled.

Alsoanointlotuswiththreetypesofsweets,performhomafor10nightsanditwill
raingold.

Andifyouwanttoaccomplishthetreasurevase,doasabove.

AlsoifyouwanttobebelovedbyYaksa,use100,000Somalathaflowerand
performhomaanditwillshowitself(thisiscalledshakti)

Alsotocureallkindofillnesses,anypatientseenortouchedbyyoushallbe
cured.

Andtoremoveheadache,imaginethatyoutransformedintoIshtadevataand
massagethepatientshead.Ifitisyourownheadache,thenmassageyourself.
Thesamegoestoeyes,ears,heart,armpitanyotherpains.

Ifyouaresick,recitethemantra7timestothemedicineandthenconsumethe
sicknessshallbecured.

Ifaninfantistroubledbyghosts,thenrecitethemantra21timestosomeNerium
flowersandspreadtheminthebedroom.Theinfantwillbeinpeace.

Anyonesufferfromscabies,thentaketenfingerlengthofkrimalaandcutboth
ends.Afterthatsmearitwiththreetypesofsweetsandperformhomafor7days.
Mixtheashwithwaterandthenrubthepatientsbody.Youhavetoburn10,000
piecesofwoodin7days(youcanalsousetheChinaberry).

Ifyouwishtobebelovedbyhumansornonhumans,andthenanointagarwood
withthreetypesofsweets,performhomafor100,000times.Yourtargetwillcome
andmakeapactwithyouandhewillgiveyou500ouncesofgoldeveryday(the
mastersaidthesizeof4fingers).

Alsoifyourecitethemantraonceandofferwhitelotusonceinfrontofmyimage
whenyouhavedone100,000times,thenallofyoursicknesswillbegone.


IfyouwishtopossessthepowerofaYaksa,take4fingerlengthswhite
sandalwood.Afteryouhaveperformofferingsfor100,000times,7Yaksawill
comeandcircleyou.Theywillaskyouonthereasonsyousummonedthem.If
decidetoserveyou,thentheywillofferfoodsfor1,000dependentsdaily.

Ifyouwanttobelovedbykamaswargam(enjoymentheaven),thenburnBenzoic
incensewhichhasappliedbythreetypesofsweets.Thenperformhomafor
10,000times.Thedevatawillprovideheavenlyfoodandclothingdaily.

Also,ifyoutakelotusandsmearthemwith3typesofsweetslater,performhoma
for300,000times.Allhiddentreasureswillrevealtoyou.Whenyouobtained
thesetreasures,thenyoushoulddonatetoallsentientbeings.

FourthChapter:CuringAllSicknesses
Firstrecitethemantrainfrontoftheholyimagefor100,000times.Afterthat,take
lotusandsmearthemwiththreetypesofsweetsandperformhomafor10,000
times.Followingthat,usewhitemustardseedswiththreesweetsandperform
homafor10,000times.Allsicknessesuntilallpredeterminedkarmashallbe
removed.

Also,ifapersonispossessedbyghosts,thenusefourbottlesofperfumeand
recitemantrafor10,000times.Latershowertheperfumefromtopandtheghost
willleavetheperson.

Ifapersonissufferingfromillnessescausedbycoldorhotfor1day,2daysuntil
4daysetctakesaltmixwith3sweetsandperformhomafor10,000times.After
thattakesomeashandagainrecitemantra7times.Anointtheashonthe
foreheadofthepatientandthispatientwillrecover.Youcanusesuchmethodfor
alltypesofillnessestoo.

IfapersonistroubledbyghostsuntilPisaca,Dakiniorothersalikethenrecite
mantraandstareattheperson.Thespiritswillleave.

Also,recitemantrafor108timesontoyourfingertipandpointattheperson
possessedbyspiritsaskthespirittoperformwhatiscommandedanditwillobey.

Ifyouwanttoknowaffairsofthethreetimes,thenfindavirginboyorgirl.Ask
he/shetotakeabath,usecowdunktoanointasmallaltar.Afterthatanointthe
boyorgirlwithwhitesandalwoodandDipterocarpaceaeandtieajasminegarland
onhis/herhead.Recitemantra108timesandtheboy/girlwillbeliftedupforthe
heightforanelbowandrespondtowhateverquestionthatyouhaveinmind.
(Cantonhasthistypeofflowers.Theyarewhiteandveryfragrant.Purewhiteand
fragrant,otherwiseusesilvercoins,sumanaflowerinplaceofjasminealso
possible).

Ifyouwantmetotellyouyourpersonalissuesrelatedtothethreetimes,thenuse
lotusflowersandanointthemwiththreesweetsandperformhomafor10,000
times.Alsoifitisasnakebiteuntilvariousillnessesandspiritrelatedsickness,I
willbestowblessingsandallinauspiciousshallberemoved.

Chapter5:BelovedByAllSentientBeings

Recitemantrainfrontoftheholyimagefor30,000timesasthefoundation.After
thatusefragrantsoilandmake100,000stupas.Offersumanaflowersinfrontof
thestupas.Smearthesumanaflowerswith3typesofsweetsandperformhoma
for10,000times.Youshallachievesiddhi(accomplishment).Afterthat,allyour
mantrarecitationshallbemoreabundance.

Ifyouwanttobelovedbyraja(king),thensmearBenzoinwith3sweetsandrecite
mantrafor10,000times.Rajaandhisdependentswillbegladtoserveyou.

Youcantakechargeofgovernmentofficialsasabovemethod.Usefennelseeds
mixedwith3sweetstoperformhoma10,000times.

AndtomakeupdivorcingcouplesuseBenzoinandFenneltogetherperform
homafor100,000times.

100,000times.Heshallattainsiddhi.


IfoneperformshomawithAgarwoodorDryobalanopsfor100,000timesheshall
bebestowedwith1,000goldcoins.

IfoneperformshomawithTulip,thenheshallhaveunlimitedclothing.

Ifoneperformshomawithbarley,rapeseed,greenpeasandricefor10,000
timeshewillbebestowedwithunlimitedfood.

Ifoneperformshomawithhorsehairs,thenhewillgetaherdofhorses.

Ifoneperformshomawithmilkfor100,000timesdiscovershiddentreasure.

Whateverisdesireditcanbeacquiredthroughhoma,ifyoudesiresmanand
womanthenuserapeseedforhoma,ifyouwanttohavewisdomthenuseAcorus
calamusforhoma.UsepinewoodforhomainDecemberandyouwillgetgold.
Alloftheabovemustbedonefor100,000times.Allthedharmaofathousand
armsAvalokitesvaradependsonthisimportantritualtoachieve
accomplishments.

TheSeventhChapter:RitualForAccomplishment

Recitemantrafor500,000infrontoftheholyimageasafoundationpractice.

Useagarwoodasfuelandperformhomawithwhitelotusasofferingfor100,000
times,KingVaisramanawillappearinfrontofthepractitionertogetherwithhis
dependentsandbestowhimwithtreasuresinabundance.

Performhomawithlotusseedswith3sweetsfor300,000timesandMahaKali
willappearandperformauspiciousandabundancethings.Usefirwith3sweets
toperformhomafor300,000timesandallYaksawillappearandask,Whatdo
youwantmetodo?Youmayaskanyfavouryoulikeandyouwillgetwhatyou
want.

Usepistilsofdragonflowerand3sweetstoperformhomafor300,000times.
Nagawillcomeandfollowyourorders.Performhoma300,000withgreenlotus
and3sweets,Vajragrabhawillbeshowntoyou.Thenyoucanaskforimmortal,
independentandlona(salt).Thesethreeandallyoucanget.Ifyouperformhoma
withgreenlotusand3sweetsinfrontofKingBrahmanfor300,000times,then
KingBrahmanwillcomeandgrantyou3wishes.

Ifyouperformhomawithsumanaflowerand3sweetsfor300,000timesinfront
ofMahakala,hewillcomeandhelpyouinachievingyourwishes(Theimageof
Mahakalahaselephanthideasshoulderpiece,holdingaspear,onehead
wearingkapalagarlandandtheotherheadwearinggoatheadgarland).However,
ifyouperformhomainfrontanydevataswiththeflowerstheylikefor300,000
timestheywillcomeasyourservant.

ChapterEighth:CommonAccomplishment

AtthattimeAvalokitesvaraBodhisattvasaidtoBuddha,Blessedone,Inowsay
thisprofoundandyetdetailedritualandrulesofVidhyaharaRajaandallclans.
Thepractitionershouldfirstgiverisetogreatcompassiontowardsallsentient
beings.Heshouldfilialtohisparentsandrespecttotheelders.Heshouldthink
andpityallthosesentientbeingswhoarestillsuffering.Hemusthavepurefate
withthethreegems.HealsomustbehappytogiveofferingtoallBuddha.He
mustnotdrinkalcohol,hemustnothavefreesexes,andheshouldnotkillortell
liesoranysimilarthings.Thisisthemostimportantpreconditioninthe
accomplishmentofthismantra.Thisshouldbethecase.

Firstonthe5thdayofawhitemonth(afterfullmoon),empower5pure
substances108timesandthendrinkthewater.Foreverysipyoutake,youwillbe
purifiedforhalfofamonth(Socalled5puresubstances:smallquantityofcow
dunkandurinemixwithghee,milkandcheeseinasilverorbronzecontainerand
empowerthismixtureonthe5thdayofawhitemonth.Socalled5thdayofwhite
monthmeans5daysafterthefullmoon.)

AvalokitesvaraBodhisattvawithhisrighthandcomforting(thatisindexfingerandthumbmakinga
ringwithotherfingerserectmakingaleadinghandgesture)whilehislefthandisholdingalotus.His
bodyiswhiteincolour.UndertheAvalokitesvaraoneshoulddrawTaraBodhisatva.Ontopshould
drawsvapnanirdea(thefourprinces)makingmusicasoffering.Onealsoshoulddraw
BrahmadevaholdingDaturastramonium.

Afterthedrawingiscompleted,itshouldbeputinaritualroomandworshipaccordingly.Oneshould
offerlotusanointwith3sweetsandperformhomafor100,000timesandfollowbyotherkarma
rituals.Ifoneismakingthefundamentalmudraandreciteheartmantraandhegoestoatownship
orasettlement,everyonewhoseesthispersonwillbehighlyregarded.Ifheoffer100,000lotusin
frontoftheholyimage(byrecitingmantraonceandthenputonelotusinfront),heshallseehidden

accomplishment.Ifanyonewhorecitemantrasinfrontofthismandala,thenhewillbeabletoenter
allmandalas.Hewillberespectedbyallsentientbeings,andserioussinsshallbepurified.When
hislifeiscomingtoanend,AvalokitesvaraBodhisattvawillappearinfrontofhimandpreach
dharmatohim.Whenhedies,hewillberebornintoTusitaheaven.Hewillnotberebornintothree
evilpaths.Orifhereisanyonewhodonotbelieveinthe3gems,theyaremisersandextremely
stingy.Eventhistypeofpersoncanlistentothissutramomentarilyuntilhecanrecitetheywill
alsoreceiveaccomplishmentsoon.Moreoverincaseofapersonwhohaspurefateinthethree
gems,thesuccesswillbeevenfaster!

Atthistime,theBuddhapraisedAvalokitesvaraandsaid:

Sadhu,sadhu,greatbodhisattva,
theonewithgreatcompassionandresidesingreatsattvaposition
nowyouhavesaidthegreatkingofmantra,
inthehopetobenefitandmakeallsentientbeingshappyandbelieve.

AfterAvalokitesvaracompletedmentioningthissutra,allgreatbodhisattvasandarahats,all
devatas,nagas,yaksas,kinara,maharagaetc.wereextremelyhappyanddecidedtofollowthis
teaching.
