STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
I am BHARAT RAM VISWESWARAN, an undergraduate student from easwari engineering
college, Chennai, which is affiliated to Anna University. I am indeed interested in pursuing
Master of Science degree program in industrial engineering in your well esteemed university.
The following paragraphs deals about my educational background, goals and interests.
I completed my under graduate degree program with mechanical engineering as my major in
Easwari Engineering College, Chennai. During my secondary school grade, I had a desire in
pursuing mechanical engineering as soon as I enter college. I had this desire due to my
interest about cars when I was young. Then i was later convinced to work hard in maths and
science subjects. I had fulfilled my desire in doing mechanical engineering course in a good,
well recognized college.
During my college days, I had an interest in learning mechanical related calculations,
theoretical and even practically too. I did my final year project in Ashok Leyland, Ennore,
and Chennai wherein apart from my project I learnt about the assembly of an engine from
first step to the last. I did my mini project which is about Fabrication of Windscreen wipers
wherein the project is about the mechanism of windscreen wipers which is being used in
automobiles, trains, flights etc. I gained an exposure practically by undergoing lab sessions
such as Manufacturing technology lab, thermal engineering lab etc. . These projects and lab
sessions helped me in gaining practical knowledge in mechanical engineering. These
practical as well as theoretical knowledge helped in gaining interest in working in an auto
component manufacturing industry. My ambition was to work in an auto component industry
wherein i can incorporate my knowledge in mechanical field which I had gained it while
doing my under graduate studies.
After my undergraduate program, through campus I joined in an auto component products
manufacturing company which is Sundram Fasteners Ltd., which belongs to TVS group. My
desire was successfully fulfilled. After joining this company, I learnt about the difference
between the corporate world and a college life, the 4 Ms which are man, machine, method
and materials. As this is a TPM related company and a TPM Excellency award winner we
were been guided about TPM, the 5S principles, Kaizen etc. After joining in this
organization, I learnt many processes practically since I had learnt it theoretically during my
under graduate program. But, I learnt that India has more of manpower, less machines and
less money. So to improve in that, a M.S course in industrial engineering would be an ideal
one.
Hence a masters degree in this field would help me in learning the impediments and
eradication. Hence I would like to join in your well recognized and esteemed university and
looking forward to be a part of your systematic environment at your premises.
