Welcome Time
What You Need: An offering container
What You Do:
Invite kids to put their offerings in the offering container as they arrive.
Ask kids if any of them have played a team sport. Who do they consider the most important
person on the team and why? For example, in hockey is the most important person the
goalie? What about in soccer? Are the defensive players more important than the offensive
players? Why would cooperation be important for a team to win?
Lead your kids into Large Group.
Activity #1
What You Need: Moses costume (robe, wig with beard, and staff or walking stick)
What You Do:
Tell kids to gather at one end of the room while a Small Group Leader stands on the opposite
side of the room.
The SGL sets the scene by explaining he is Moses and the kids are Israelites. In order to defeat
the Amalekites, an Israelite must make it to the other side of the room. However, the
Israelites can only move when Moses raises his walking stick above his head. When Moses
drops his walking stick, everyone must freeze. It is important that Moses really acts tired when
he lowers his walking staff and only with great effort can he lift it again.
Once a kid is close to the finish line, Moses lowers his walking stick. He is so tired he cant go
on. He even sits down to catch his breath.
Moses doesnt lift his arms again until a kid comes over to help him lift his walking stick. (If kids
are just really confused and not making the connection, Moses can say something like, Man,
my arms hurt so bad! I wish Hur was here.)
Declare a winner; the winner is the first Israelite to cross the room.
Note: If you have kids attending multiple hours and therefore they already know the catch of
the activity, you can ask one of them to be Moses. Make sure no one gives away the key to
winning.
What You Say:
Can anyone tell me why the Israelites won the battle against the Amalekites in our story today?
(Because Aaron and Hur worked together with Moses.) It was definitely a team effort! If Aaron and Hur
hadnt helped Moses, the Israelites would not have succeeded. In our game today (fill in the winners
name) was the first Israelite to cross the room. But she had some help to succeed, didnt she? If it
werent for (fill in the name of the kid who helped Moses) we would all still be standing here frozen.
Though (kid who helped) didnt win the race, he worked together with me so someone would win and
succeed. There are many times [Bottom Line] we can work together to help someone else
succeed. Sometimes that means we dont get what we want, but it is important to remember to [Basic
Truth] treat others the way we want to be treated, and when we work together we can do more than
we could do alone.

#3
Prayer Time
What You Need: No supplies needed
What You Do:
Pray with the kids, thanking God for His Word and for always being with us.
Ask God to teach us how to work together and to help each other in everything we do.
Ask God to remind us that when we help others succeed we are doing His work by treating
others the way we would want to be treated.
4/5/6 Challenge: The Myth of the Lone Ranger
Successful people rarely do anything completely by themselvesthey have help! Dare kids
to ask someone at home about a time when they won somethinga medal, an award, a
prizebut really, it wouldnt have been possible without the help of other people along the
way.
They should ask such things as: Did they feel guilty? Did they share the credit and give a
shout out to the people who helped? Did they ever say thank you?
If kids appear confused, give a quick example from your own life or ask for ones from a kid
who seems to be catching on.
Encourage kids to come back and share with the group what they learned.
Hint at and deliver an edible prize for those who come back with an example. (Make sure to
take into account any allergies!) Candy is typically cheap, small, and still beloved by this age
group.
Tell parents today we learned [Bottom Line] we can work together to help someone else succeed.
Encourage kids to tell their parents how Aaron and Hur helped Moses succeed.
Give each child a Valentines Day candy before they leave <3
