Today's Prayer Requests: From Students, Alumni, and Missionaries

BENIN: Praise God for His healing touch on and salvation of a Muslim woman in a village in central Benin. She had
been sick and beyond any help the doctors could offer. When, out of curiosity, she visited a site where a church was
being built, the pastor and church members prayed for her, and God healed her. A missionary writes, Please pray that
this woman, who is now a believer, tells her neighbors, that the word will spread and many will come to Christ. This is
such an encouragement for this new church...already 114 people strong now! This church is one of the many that are
being planted with our Benin team of church planting pastors in the strong Muslim northern regions of Benin. Pray
that God will go before them and bless their efforts.
NIGER: Please pray for upcoming presidential elections, to be held January 21 in this Muslim-majority nation. An
alumnus writes, Pray for peace and security in the country and in particular for the safety of the churches and
Christians. While there have been no overt threats, he remarks, there was also no warning before the attacks on some
70 churches in January 2015.

In the News
At least 35,000 Syrians fleeing the latest fighting in Aleppo have gathered at the Turkish border. Already hosting more
than 2.5 million refugees, Turkey is for the moment keeping its border closed, but is providing tents and supplies for
the crowd. Please pray for these now-homeless people. Pray that Christians among them would be able to share their
faith in the midst of this crisis. The underground church in Aleppo has been growing; pray for strength and grace for
those who have stayed behind.

World Watch List: Libya

The North African nation of Libya ranks 10 in the list of nations where it is most difficult to be a Christian. Libyan
believers must meet underground. Expatriate Christians are closely watched, and some have been executed. The
coastal city of Sirte has become the North African base for the Islamic State, who are taking advantage of the unstable
provisional government and the oil money. Pray for our brothers and sisters here, that they may have access to God's
life-giving Word (illegal here) and fellowship. Pray that their lives may shine as lights, and for divine opportunities to

From Global Initiative*

Pray for radio broadcasts in Afghanistan. Hundreds of Muslims per month have requested written materials. Shortand medium-wave and satellite broadcasts bring the gospel into homes daily in several Afghan languages. Listeners
can also access these programs and audio Bibles online. There are no formal churches in Afghanistan; believers must
meet in secret, and these audio and print resources are a great blessing to them. Pray that these ministries may
continue in safety and effectiveness.
