Editing:
Continuity editing is used as the text in presented
chronologically emphasising real-time movement of the
narrative. The cuts are done to show either a characters
reaction or them speaking this allows the audience to see
the important reactions and emotions that the producer
wants the audience to see.
Sound:
There are ambient sounds in the scene when a person
walks across the floor you hear them walking, very
minimal but they add realism to the scene. The non
diegetic sound is reminiscent to time passing, it allows the
viewer to be in Sherlocks head almost as the sounds
match his deductions and where he looks. It adds
atmosphere to the scene and to Sherlocks deductions as
though you are hearing his deductions and the way he is
thinking allowing the audience to connect with him.
I know one of the police men, well I know what he likes
said by Irene. Shows she uses herself to get what she
wants, knows her way around the world, experienced. Her
tone is firm and she dismisses Sherlock goal however he is
able to manipulate her reactions to get what he wants.
Non diegetic piano music matches the camera work
emphasises looks and expressions pulled by the
characters.
The camera tracks in on Sherlock and the shows/Sherlocks
sound motif this shows to the audience that this is an
important moment for Sherlock.
