Directing
The process of directing is very important, if we use planning, organizing and
staffing but we dont use directing then all will be in vain because we need directing
to start the actual work. Directing is the functions of guiding, inspiring, overseeing
and instructing others so they can accomplish the goals that were set before. The
managers provide guidance to employees is doing work.

The characteristics of direction are:


Pervasive Function.- Directing is required in all kinf of levels in the organization.
The managers of each department have to guide and instruct their subordinates.
Continuos Activity.- We need to be constant, direction cant stop at any time.
Human Factor.- This is very important, we work with people, so direction is related
to subordinates, this means, human factor. Working with people is unpredictable
thats why we need someone to direct the employees.
Creative Activity.- Help us convert plans into performance. Without creative
activity workers will become inactive.
Executive Function.- Is carried out by all managers at all levels, A subordinate
receives instructions from his superior only.
Delegate Function.- Conditioning the peoples behavior towards the company
goals is what the executive does in this function.

The four components of direction are supervisin; directing efforts of workers to


accomplish goals, motivation; something that moves the workers to action,
leadership; process where a person can influence in a postivie way to their
subordinates and communication; is the transfer of the information from one to
another.
Directing is said to be the heart of management of process so it is the centrak point
around which accomplishment of goals take place. Through direction the operation
of a company starts. Being the central character of a company brings benefits
which are:
It initiates actions.- It is from this function where the action takes place, employees
understand their jobs and they do it according to the instructions they have.
It ingrates efforts.- through direction, the superiors are able to guide, inspire and
instruct the subordinates to work. Every employees effort is required to succes.

Means of motivation.- Helps in achivement of goals, managers use motivation so


employees make the work in a better way, if workers are motivated then they will
put more effort.
It provides stability.- stability is very important because that is a sign of growth of a
company, therefore a manager can use of all the four components said before so
that performance standars can de maintained.
Copying up with the changes.- it is directing function which is of use to meet with
changes in enviroment, internal and external.
Efficient utilization of reosurces.- The resources can be use properly, the role of
subordinates become clear as managers makes use of his supervisory, guidance,
motivation and instructions skills to inspire
