General Instructions:
(i)
All questions compulsory.
(ii)
The question paper consists of 29 questions divided into three Section A, B and C.
Section A comprises of 10 questions of one mark each, Section B comprises of 12
questions of four marks each and section C comprises of 07 questions of six
marks each.
(iii) All questions in section A are to be answered in one word, one sentence or as per
the exact requirement of the question.
(iv)
There is no overall choice. However, internal choice has been provided in 04
questions of four marks each and 02 questions of six marks each. You have to
attempt only one of the alternatives in all such questions.
(v)
Use of calculators is not permitted. You may ask for logarithmic tables, if
required.

SECTION A
Question numbers 1 to 10 carry 1 mark each.
1.

Find the Cartesian equation of the line which passes through the point (2, 4, 5) and is

The required line is parallel to the given line. Therefore, direction ratios of the required
line are same as the direction ratio of the given line. So, the direction ratios of the
required line are 3, 5, 6.
The equation of the straight line passing through ( 2, 4, 5) and having direction ratios
x 2 y 4 z 5
x2 4 y z 5

3.

If a xi 2 j zk and b 3i y j k are two equal vectors, then write the value of

x + y + z.

Ans.

Given, a xi 2 j zk and b 3i y j k are equal vector.

xi 2 j zk 3i y j k

x 3, y 2, z 1
x y z 3 2 1 0
Therefore, the value of x + y + z is 0.

The amount of pollution content added in air in a city due to x-diesel vehicles is given by
P(x) = 0.005x3 + 0.02x2 + 30x. Find the marginal increase in pollution content when 3
diesel vehicles are added and write which value is indicated in the above question.
Given, P x 0.005x3 0.02 x 2 30x
Differentiating both sides with respect to x, we have
dP x
(1)
Marginal increase in pollution content
0.015 x 2 0.04 x 30
dx
dP x
Putting x = 3 in (1), we have
0.015 9 0.04 3 30 30.255
dx x 3
Therefore, the value of marginal increase in pollution content is 30.255.
