History of the fair

The Mexican contemporary art fair began in 2002, first appearing as
MUESTRA in the city of Monterrey, and then as MUESTRA 2 in Mexico
City.
Founder Zlika Garca recognized the need to extend the art market and
go beyond the Mexican border. Since 2004, ZsONA MACO has been
based in Mexico City. Today, this celebration is the epicenter of
contemporary art, diverse museums, and public and private cultural
institutions; there are also many activities and events meant to
disseminate the varied expressions of the fine arts.

Profile of the public (kinds of people, socioeconomic status,

educational level, attitude)
Most of the type of people that assists to this important gallery are artists,
entrepreneurs, business men teachers and the socioeconomic status is
medium-high and high. The educational level is professional and the
attitude to the art is pretty interesting because some people seems that
they go just for the event of the year (or week) to take pictures and some
others seemed too engaged with every stand.

Select a work of art that you like the most

The artwork I like the most was the Soumayas toilet because for me it
represented a kind of manifestation against inequality in Mexico and the
world. I felt as if the artists was talking about how a Mexican person
could build that kind of empire and the sixty per cent of the Mexican
people suffers sort type of poverty. From the moment I looked at it until
the research on Internet about this artwork, a lot of people from the
press, critics and spectators felt the same with this piece.

Select a work of art that you either dont understand or dont like
I tried so hard to understand this type of art but I think it is more a design
than art because I wanted to understand were does the main idea was
but I tried so hard to found a feeling from the artist but I couldnt feel
anything. It was like If I were looking to a wall from a mall or a store
selling clothes or articles for kids. I couldnt understand the message
from the artist and I would like some help to find the way to appreciate
this artwork.

Conclusions
One of the most interesting facts that I found were that the people that
assist to this event was too classy and with an extraordinary super high
socioeconomic level which it was too important in that level because of
inequality in Mexico is too high that when people with the same
characteristics get together, they act like if they were in a competition of
money and people acts very snobby and also I think that some of them
appear to be someone who doesnt really are.

A few of them seem that have studies and wide knowledge about
contemporary art because they seem too involved with every sculpture,
painting or art in general they are in front to.
When I was at the line to enter to the gallery, there was a couple in front
of me and a group of four women beside me and it was funny because
meantime I was waiting to enter the couple and the group of women
started to talk about the art gallery and then about their own life
experience (I heard the entire conversation because I was between both
parts) and they seem to be very compatible because the husband was
working at the government so they did a relationship in the line so that
people can go through the art gallery and meet people with the same
interests as yours. Even though there was classy people an intellectually
brilliant, also there were persons that didnt know about any type of art
because their comments were too offensive and didnt respect the
exposition. I liked the exposition and it was too interesting
