1.0 SUMMARY

knows that Tobeys crew are the best for this sort of things and in exchange he intends to sell
the car once the work is done, and offers Tobey 25% of the estimated 2.0 million selling

2.0 DISCUSSION
Need For Speed, the movie, takes a worn-out plot filled with one-dimensional
characters and combines it with a couple of overlong car chase sequences that are completely
devoid of intensity. Director Scott Waughs second movie for 25 years; Waugh made a living
in Hollywood as a stunt performer. One would think that a former stuntman would be the
ideal choice to direct a Need For Speed movie, but while there are some wild stunts captured
on screen, Waugh lacks the directorial chops necessary to help you feel like youre in on the
action, too. This makes for a very empty, impersonal film. You know those times when you
watch modern car-based films and you see a 30+ year old muscle car outrun the fastest cars
on the road? Well, it turns out that while it may be possible, it needs a whole lot of help. In
the recently released behind-the-scenes video, the Need for Speed filmmakers give us a brief
glimpse at the Muscle Foundry, where they fine-tune muscle cars for the track. Fine-tune
in this case means replacing the whole engine and the front of the body. Its not a simple
process, but it is doable with the right people, and a will to make all cars equal under the
camera lens. Most importantly, this movie does not use Computer-generated imagery (CGI).
The visual scenes may be dynamic or static, and may be two-dimensional (2D), though the
term "CGI" is most commonly used to refer to 3D computer graphics used for creating scenes
or special effects in films and television. The movie was so apparent that they were actually
driving those cars and it was just real. It was honest and the audience wasnt being lied to.
This is a film that takes something like a half hour to instigate its plot. A full sequence is
devoted to dodging traffic in a small New York town. A bounty set on the protagonists head
results in the consequence of one action scene and nothing else. Whats more, this alleged
racing movie is far more about a road trip to get to the actual race.

3.0 PERSONAL REVIEW

Need For Speed is intriguing because of the clear and understandable storyline. The
story has many interesting elements. One of it is the suspense where it builds up the
excitement of watching the movie. There is one scene in the movie which Toby Marshall and
Julia are being hunted down at the Grand Canyon by the bad guys hired by Dino Brewster.
Dino commanded them to kill Toby because he did not want him to join the grand race of De
Leon. Generally, everyone knows that at the canyon, the roads are extremely dangerous
because of the rocks and the cliffs. This is when the suspense rise to the max when they have
reached the end of a cliff. They have no place to run anymore and the bad guys surrounded
them at every angle. Then suddenly, a friend of Toby, the with the military helicopter came to
the rescue with a very unique method.

Next, for me there is also a very sad scene when Toby's close friend, Pete died in an
illegal race between him, Toby and Dino. Feel embarrassed by Toby's driving skills he then
made a deal with Toby that if Toby can beat him he'll give him full cash of 2.7 million or if
not, Toby will have to give him back the quarter. Then, Pete suddenly wants to join the race,
and here it's all begin. The heart pounding race is very nerve wrecking when Toby was
nearly about to win the race, Dino become angry then hit Pete's car - did not expect that his
act making Pete's car flip over and crashed.

This is the best part for me in the story. Toby get released after two years jailedbecause the falsely convicted that he killed Pete. Determine to avenge Dino and bring justice
to Pete's death, he planned to beat Dino in a exclusive race called the De Leon. He managed
to borrow the Mustang he built 2 years ago from Julia Maddon, the young British woman.
He tried to attract the De Leon's organiser known as Monarch. To attract Monarch's attention,
he made the police chase after him. He showed his amazing driving skills - how he can
evade all the cars despite there were so many police cars tailing his cars. But at the end, even
though he has the chance to let Dino burn in explosive crash, he chooses to save Dino
because if he just go on with his revenge, he realized that he and Dino will be just the same.

4.0 RECOMMENDATION
By that standard perhaps Need For Speed deserves a little slack, even if it, too has a
much-longer-than it-needs-to-be-or-deserves 130-minute running time. However, the auto
racing action-thriller meanders so much and takes so long to get its character and situations
where they are going you will be tempted to call it Need For Judicious Editing instead.
That is not to say it is lacking in the entertainment department. There are quite a few
moments, such as several thrilling, howd- they do- that? racing sequences for being a
total failure. But even that the film is based on a video game series, this movie lack of
actions. [reviewed by Jeff Michael Vice, retrieved from cinephilled website]
On the other hand, this movie shouldnt include swearing words too much such as
[ h*ll, bi**h, sh*t, a**hole and ba**tards] because it is rated PG 13 so it does not suitable for
underage teens.
