Character Representation
In our opening sequence we have 3 characters. In our sequence we wanted to make sure
there were typical conventions so the audience would be able to recognise it is a thriller film.
Character 1: Rosie (Olivia Conneely)
Gender: The characters gender is female, we decided to keep this aspect stereotypical because she is playing the role of an innocent child as this is a convention of a thriller film.
Throughout the sequence the character is portrayed as nave as she is unaware of the situation, this heightens sympathy for her. Another reason we wanted to keep this character female
is because she would be perceived as more vulnerable therefore creating an emotional link between the audience and the character. We decided to have her dressed in a cartoon onesie so
she looks young and innocent.
Race: The characters race is White, this also conforms to a stereotype because she is playing
an innocent character and in most films characters playing these roles are usually white.
Age: The character is aged 8, we decided to make the character this age because the actress
playing Rosie is also aged 8 so it makes the storyline more believable.
Disability: The character has no visible disabilities we decided this wouldnt be relevant to this
particular storyline.
Sexuality: As the character is only a child there is no relevance to the storyline on her sexuality.
