Center acceleration for Cisco UCS, Nexus and MDS.
Unique access to Firefly Community for online resources, technical expertise and
candidate mentoring.
Firefly CCIE Data Center Experts have worked closely with Cisco to create the CCIE
lab workshops. These experts offer a unique and highly specialized mentoring experience to each Firefly candidate.
Firefly's CCIE Data Center Mentors are the individuals who worked closely with Cisco
to develop these classes and therefore offer a unique and highly specialized mentoring
experience to each Firefly CCIE Data Center candidate. Those who have achieved the
coveted CCIE in other areas know that its a long road culminating with a gruelling day
in the lab, implementing, fine-tuning, and troubleshooting a complex environment.
Many do not pass on their first tryor even their second.
The CCIE Data Center certification will set the bar for the next generation of Data
Center architects and designers. Encompassing technologies that span routing, switching, SAN, server, application with network services, and virtualization, this CCIE Data
Center may prove to be the most elusive CCIE yet.

Why Firefly
From expert-led classrooms to virtual experiences and state-of-the art remote lab access, we are
passionate about the service we deliver. Fireflys heritage in education and data center technologies
ensures a consistently high level of customer satisfaction scores. Firefly instructors are industry practitioners and leverage this experience to blend formal education with hands-on training and customized
laboratories to deliver a highly interactive and immersive course.
This course includes coverage of UCS Manager version 2.1 and UCS Central 1.1 featuring additional
content on networking design and operations, not in the standard version of the course, that customers
need to successfully integrate UCS into their environments. Among the hardware and software features
covered is first through third generation components. The labs for this course are conducted on physical
and virtual equipment running UCS Manager version 2.1. Students will explore, hands-on, the new
features of UCS Manager 2.1 while implementing VMware's latest hypervisor, ESXi 5.1. Students are
tested with challenge labs, yet provided answer keys to assist them.

Course Description

Version:
4.2.1.SV2.1

ICNX1V
Why Firefly
This version of ICNX1V features the latest version of the Nexus 1000V software in the courseware
4.2.1.SV2.1, including the new vPath 2.0 architecture. Additionally, the most recent version of Cisco
Nexus 1010, 4.2.1.SP1(4a) is covered, along with updates on the Cisco Virtual Security Gateway
(VSG), the Cisco 1000V ASA, and the Virtual Wide Area Application Services (vWAAS), which
provides integrated WAN optimization services.

Course Description

Prerequisites

The Cisco Nexus 1000V is a virtual switch that

resides within the hypervisor environment such
as a VMware ESXi Server instance and provides
operations and management consistency with
existing Cisco Nexus and Catalyst switches. The
Nexus 1000V, with the use of overlay networks
provisioning, provides one of the three pillars of
Cisco's ONE SDN strategy. The Nexus 1000V
leverages VMware's vNetwork Distributed
Switch (DVS) framework and integrates with the
Cisco Nexus 1010/1100 Virtual Network Appliances and Virtual Services Blades (VSB) to offer
tightly integrated network services as part of a
comprehensive Data Center server virtualization
strategy. This two-day course provides you with
an in-depth look at the architecture, design,
installation, monitoring, upgrading, and feature
configuration process for the Cisco Nexus
1000V. This course includes hands-on labs in
which you will configure a VMware vSphere
infrastructure; install, upgrade, and configure the
Nexus 1000V with high availability; and demonstrate uplink design options, policy mobility
during virtual machine migration, and the use of
monitoring tools.

You will gain the most from this course if you have at least
CCNA-level knowledge of routing and switching together
with some knowledge and experience of configuring a
VMware virtual switching environment.

Who Should Attend

This course is targeted at Networking and Virtual
Server engineers. It introduces and teaches the
configuration and design aspects of the Cisco
Nexus 1000V and associated products in a VMware
virtual switching environment.
