To learn more about bone marrow and what its like to be a bone marrow
donor, visit LifeSource at www.lifesource.org/bone-marrow-donation.
Please consider participating in this life-saving event!
Bone marrow screening is free to ages 18-44, and requires a simple, noninvasive, self-administered cheek swab using 4 long Q-tips. If you have
been unable to donate blood in the past, you can now participate by providing a bone marrow screening and being added to the bone marrow registry Be The Match Registry, the National Marrow Donor Program.
When you join Be The Match Registry, your tissue type is added to the registry. Its not a marrow donation; you don't actually donate until you are a
match for a patient.
According to LifeSource, Every three minutes, someone is diagnosed with
a blood cancer like leukemia. For many patients, a marrow transplant is
the only life-saving treatmenttheir only chance for a cure. And nearly
70 percent of patients do not have a match within their own family.
