Scope
All centres requiring approval to deliver full qualifications or units offered by Cskills Awards.
The policy details the information and policies centres are required to have to gain approval.
This policy is further amplified in the Cskills Awards Requirements for Approved Centres. The
policy relates to;

Introduction
This policy covers Cskills Awards requirements for centre approval. All centres wishing to
become approved by Cskills Awards must meet the requirements of the policy and adhere to
the Cskills Awards Requirements for Approved Centres. Cskills Awards will monitor on a risk
basis and not less then twice per year to ensure the centres compliance with the policy. Failure
to meet the requirements of the policy will result in the centre receiving corrective actions
weighted on the severity of non-compliance.
Policy Requirements
As part of the Centre Approval application process centres must provide Cskills Awards with:
A named point of contact that has overall accountability for quality assurance and
management of the centre.
Conform to the relevant laws and acts of the United Kingdom.
Have arrangements and processes in place to capture the unique learner number (ULN)
from the learner record service (LRS).
Centres must have arrangements for identifying exemptions and applying them to the
learner record.
Centres must demonstrate evidence of a learners wish to opt out of the ULN process.
Where partnership arrangements are in place, identification of the roles and
responsibilities of each partner including the arrangements and responsibility for Quality
Assurance. (The centre seeking approval is overall responsible for the quality
arrangements of the centre.)
Agreement that Cskills Awards and the qualification regulators will be given access to
premises, people and records on request.
Centres will cooperate with Cskills Awards monitoring activities.
Evidence that arrangements and procedures are in place to identify Recognised Prior
Learning (RPL).
Evidence that systems are in place to track the progress of learners towards their chosen
qualification or units.
Centres are required to register Assessors, Trainers and Internal Verifiers and internal Quality
Assurance staff with Cskills Awards using Assessor and Internal Verifier application form (QA7)
confirming the Sector Skills Council (SSC) assessment strategy has been met and providing
assessor/learner ratios on an ongoing basis through the quality advisor monitoring visits.
Retention of Documentation
Centres are required to retain information for a period of 3 years that tracks the progress of
learners through their qualification or unit. This must be made available to Cskills Awards or the
Regulator upon request. This must include:
Monitoring
Cskills Awards Quality Assurance team monitors centres adherence to this policy through
centre monitoring visits. The visits are conducted as per Cskills Awards centre risk strategy,
however, not less than twice per annum.
