1.) INTRODUCTION
We all know that Engineering courses are very difficult to study and
requires determination, intelligence, and other good characteristics
that a student should have. As an engineer you may be involved in
design, production, research or running businesses. You may work
for a small or large business or even a multi-national company
anywhere in the world. Engineering gives you great opportunities for
travel and working abroad.
2.) FAMILY BACKGROUND
I interviewed Engr. Mark Chester G. Botanero, a certified Mechanical
Engineer. He is presently residing at B2 L16 PH-D Francisco Homes
Subdivision City of SJDM Bulacan, They are four siblings in which he
is the oldest. He is also presently the bread winner of his family.
3.) WHY DID YOU CHOSE THE COURSE ENGINEERING
ANSWER: I chose to become a mechanical engineer graduate
because of the broad base of knowledge covered in it. When I
graduated the course, I will have the chance to work in a petroleum
and natural gas industry, aeronautics or automobile industry, and in
any manufacturing firm that needed my specialty, and even
some electronic companies. Personally, I wanted to do some field
work for the oil companies, and possibly work offshore and
internationally. The compensation is a big factor, and also I like the
challenges that comes along in the work field.

4.) EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
Engr. Mark Chester G. Botanero graduated at Iloilo Central
Elementary School when he was at primary level. He graduated at
San Jose Catholic School in his secondary level, and in his college
years he graduated in Bachelor of Science Mechanical Engineering in
Technological Institute of the Philippines and passed the board exam
in his first attempt.
4.1) What kind of habits do you do on your college days
ANSWER: I really am focused at my studies before because my
parents rely on me to be of help to my brothers and sisters in their
education when I graduated the course. During my past time I am
helping my uncle in their general merchandise business and in return
they gave me allowances that is of great help to my parents regarding
my studies. I also like to play basketball with my friends and some
outing for recreation.
4.2) Can you suggest on how to prepare for college and also for the
future?
ANSWER: If I am to ask about my advice to those students who is
presently taking up the course engineering is to strive hard in their
respective majors, it seems that it may be very hard or difficult during
this college years but it will be their benefit if they finish and be able
to pass the board exams in their respective fields, A much more
opportunity awaits for them. Present students who is currently
enrolled in this field must be thankful to those persons who aids and
help them achieved their dreams. They must try to be exposed in

their chosen field as soon as possible. Practical application of their
related course is a necessity for them to be able to familiarize field.
4.3) Did you attend some seminars?
ANSWERS: Yes, I attended some seminars and orientations. This
was very helpful that this made me ready for what challenges are
waiting for me for the upcoming years of my studies. It adds
knowledge and informs new ideas about some aspects concerning
the topics taken.
5.) PROFESSIONAL CAREER
Engr. Botanero works presently at CM PANCHO. He started at the
company on October 2013 as a office engineer. His present job
concerns in structural field in the company.
5.1) QUESTION: What are your goals?
ANSWER: Everybody wants to be successful in their respective
fields. I wanted to help my brothers and sister to finish their studies
for them to be able to achieve their dreams. I want to be a good
provider and to be a good model to my family.
6.) FAILURES/FRUSTRATION
What failures and frustration did you encounter when you were in
college?
ANSWER: Everyone faces all sorts of failures and frustration in their
lives. As for me they may not be called a failure but a challenge to be

faced and to be coped up for me to be a better person. There may
have some distractions in my studies but I just put it as a recipe for
the field that I chose to.
7.) ADVICE FOR FUTURE ENGINEERS
ANSWER: The only advised that I can give to those aspiring
engineers is always exhale in their chosen fields, faced challenges
and always be open to some new ideas. We are living in a fast
growth development there is always new things and events occur in
our daily lives.
