Flight Information
The accuracy and currency of information contained in this guide is uncertain due to the difficulty
in obtaining the information and the rapidly changing environment. Aviators should always check
with a country's aviation authority or a local aviation handler to determine any specific aircraft
airworthiness/equipment and crew/passenger entry requirements.

Entry/Exit Requirements
Entry and exit requirements are for aircraft departing the United States non-stop to country of
destination. These requirements do not include any technical stops. Please refer to
Technical Stop section in Additional Flight Information for the country at which the
technical stop will be made.
Entry and Exit documentation forms vary from country to country. In general, however, ICAO
member countries will accept the following standard ICAO Annex 9 Entry/Exit documents:

Passenger Manifest
Cargo Manifest
Embarkation/Disembarkation Card
Certificate of Residual Disinsection

Flying Overview> ICAO Annex 9 Entry/Exit Documents. The acceptance of these ICAO
documents must be confirmed by the appropriate AIS.
Entry Requirements (Departing the U.S.)
File an eAPIS manifest outbound (recommend inbound at this time, too)
File and activate international flight plan
Land at a designated airport of entry (AOE) customs and immigration
The following entry documents are required:
Passengers

Valid passport
Visa
Yellow Fever Vaccination
Malaria vaccination if coming from an infected area
Form C70 Customs Declaration
Ghana Exchange Form T5 - Foreign currency declaration
ICAO Embarkation/Disembarkation Card

Pilots Same as passengers


Note: Other pilot/crewmember requirements may be applicable in lieu of those
stated. Contact appropriate AIS for further clarification prior to flight.
Aircraft
General Declaration 1 copy for Customs, 1 copy for Immigration
Passenger Manifest - 1 copy for Customs, 1 copy for Immigration
Cargo Manifest 1 copy for Customs
Note: If no passengers are embarking (disembarking) and no articles are laden
(unladen) only copies of the General Declaration need be submitted.
Exit Requirements (Departing Ghana)

Same vaccination certificates as required at entry


Same documents as required for Entry (see Aircraft- above)
Depart from an AOE
File eAPIS manifest if inbound to the U.S.
File an international flight plan
Call U.S. Customs at filed U.S. airport of entry

Additional Flight Information


Aircraft Instruments and Equipment
U.S. aircraft airworthiness and certification requirements may not meet other countries
requirements. It is the responsibility of the pilot to determine if the aircraft meet those
requirements.
The items listed below are for pilots reference to determine if the aircraft meets minimum
instrument and equipment requirements of the destination country. Additional equipment
may be required to comply with the airspace navigation requirements.

VHF two way radio


ACAS ll for all turbine aircraft of MTOW if 15,000 Kg or more or authorized to
carry 30 or more passengers
VOR/DME or VOR and an ADF
ADF only, if flying in Sunyani and Takoradi control zones

Commercial air transport aircraft operating in Ghana must adhere to the provisions of
Annex 6 Operation of Aircraft, Part I, Chapter 6 (Aircraft Instruments, Equipment and
Flight Documents) and Chapter 7 (Aircraft Communication and Navigation Equipment).

Technical Stop / Overflight
Prior permission must be obtained from the Ghana General Aviation Authority (see
Designated Authorities) for technical tops and overflights. Request for permission must
be submitted not less than 48 hours in advance of overflight or landing..
Non-scheduled Flights (Charters)
Request for prior permission to carry out non-scheduled flights must be submitted not
less than 48 hours in advance of the intended landing.
Private Flights
Request for prior permission to carry out private flights must be submitted not less than
48 hours in advance of the intended landing. The flight plan is accepted as advance
notification of the arrival and must be received by the authorities at least 2 hours in
advance of arrival.
Float Planes
The IFIM Staff is not aware of any Float Plane requirements or restrictions.
Light Sport Aircraft
The IFIM Staff is not aware of any Light Sport Aircraft requirements or restrictions.
Fees
Users should anticipate varying fees for landing, parking, lighting, operating outside of
normal hours, passenger services, and air navigation fees.

Fuel
Jet A1 and AvGas are available at DGAA Kotoka International.
Night VFR
VFR flights between sunset and sunrise may be prescribed by the appropriate ATS
authority.
Island Hopping
The IFIM Staff is not aware of any Island Hopping requirements or restrictions.

Instrument Approach Charts-ICAO and Airport Chart- ICAO are available from the GCAA
(see Designated Authorities).

Public Health Requirements
Aircraft No public health measures with respect to aircraft except for arrival from a malaria
endemic zone. In which case and approved WHO aerosol dispenser must be used and the
serial number recorded in the General Declaration and the cans be handed over to the Port
Health Officers.

Pets
Animals require an import permit issued by the Veterinary Services Department. A Veterinary
Health Certificate is required before the issuance of an import permit.
