DATA ANALYSIS
I have conducted a Questionnaire to hand out to two separate candidate groups as
use of my primary data collection. The questionnaire was based on the attitudes
towards language influenced by ethnicity and how where you come from can affect
how you speak.

How they all defined the term Standard English:


1. The proper well spoken language
2. Speaking fluently in the English Language

As you can see the majority of my
participants viewed definition number 3
as the most accurate way to define
Standard English which is interesting
as 40% of people view it as a basic form

I can conclude from my


results that each student was within the 16-19 age range and each recipient said
that they originated from Europe. Here are a few charts to present my results on
other aspects of my questionnaire.

I also tested the response from that of a


teachers. There were only 5 participants in this analysis and they each contribute
towards different aspects of the schools curriculum. One teacher deals with Pastoral
management, one teacher is of admin staff, there are two history teachers and
finally there is an English teacher. All of the participants originate from Europe
however they differ from age range.

1. The most common form of spoken

2. The most used and accepted /
written language
3. Clear, concise language. Not
using slang.
4. The way we speak / use language,
spelling and grammar. The norm
for English speakers. Formal and
educated.
