Firstly, a pedagogic philosophy such as mine demands that my teaching style

ought to be highly interactive where chalk and talk concept should only act as an aid.
In my opinion, interaction creates a circumstance where pupils stay engaged with the
learning objectives, teachers pedagogical approach and also teaching aids. This will
certainly lead to a meaningful lesson throughout my career later on because young
learners are being exposed to what should be acquired according to the syllabus with
variations made by the teacher. As a teacher, I understand that I am accounted to three
functions; tour guide, facilitator and gate keeper.
As a tour guide, I lead my pupils on an intellectual journey through their course of
study. My role is to point out the attractions, highlighting particular features of the
subject or topic and focusing attention on important terms or concepts, relevant issues
and significant relationships. It is my responsibility to decide where the path leads, what
topics are important, which concept are central and how much emphasis is placed on
each subject area. It is also my duty to decide how steep the path should be, and
whether to lead my pupils over obstacles around them.
As a facilitator, my job is to provide an organizational framework and a set of
tools that pupils can use to implement the knowledge which they seek for. These tools
must be sufficiently diverse to accommodate the varying needs of different personalities
and learning styles. For example, work sheets, group activities, performances, individual
work and many more. The variety of these resources is designed to appeal to as many
pupils as possible.
As a gate keeper, I am responsible for setting standards of achievement and to
evaluate the progress of my pupils in line with those standards. Well, I do not reward
laziness or sloppy thinking. I will insist upon efforts made and excellence.
I will strive to structure my teaching around my pupils needs, rather than the
demands of a particular topic when I develop a lesson plan. In addition, I always begin
by asking myself on what my pupils should know and be able to do at the end of the
class, and then move on to design the actual lesson content. For an example, if I want
them to be able to say certain letters phonically, hence I should model it first. The main

purpose of the modelling would help to check on my tongues and lips movement
followed by listening to the sound made by each letters.
Next, I have also found that an open exchange between pupils and teachers as
well among the pupils can only take place when the instructor provides meaningful
structure and direction. Pupils need to have a clear idea of what is expected from them
in their learning. Thus, I always plan and will provide pupils with a detailed outline of
learning objectives on the board during the beginning of each class. In short, I am
willing to do everything possible to create a dependable structure which my pupils can
take the risks to develop their intellectual and independence aspects.
Furthermore, technology is an essential part of my work because it brings up
contradictions for teachers regarding their teaching conceptions of what it means to
teach and learn in the Information Aged Era or 21 st Century. These instructional tools
triggers pupils curiosity as well as interest to be engaged throughout the lesson. It is
proved through my experience that they will look forward for the lesson in days to come
due to the wonders made by the technologies. I personally feel that integration of
technology even in the simplest form namely mobile phones which will act as a
captivating tool in a lesson. In sum, my personal teaching philosophy includes:

Treating all pupils with absolute equality, regardless of age, gender, nationality,

intellectual ability and personal attractiveness

Making it clear that I am always available on request and living up to this by

devoting time to personal tuition on demand

Making it my core business to try understand the pupils point of view and
attempting to give them own.

To conclude, I hereby declare that I always make myself available to gain beneficial
inputs as I undergo few phases of teaching training and then implement it during my
real teaching in another year to come. Therefore, I strongly believe that an effective
teacher is like the wizard who must help each individual to appreciate their potential that
within all of us.
