St Chad’s has been running Fully Charged for several years now, and each year
we have seen significant relationships built with local children and their parents.
Fully Charged is a week long holiday club that gives children a challenging, fun
filled week, during which we have the opportunity to talk about Jesus and invite
them to our other children’s groups. This year Fully Charged will run from 31

colleague had shown no interest
in God or church before, and
had required no prompting to

praying, God is working in
mysterious ways (and apps!)"

There are several ways to get involved…
Be on team. Over the last few weeks we have been recruiting volunteers to be
on the Fully Charged team. We have full day sessions, Monday to Friday as well
as evening sessions, Monday, Wednesday and Friday. If you would like more
information about what being on team involves please contact Johanna Pearson
or Joe Pienaar.
Be a prayer supporter. Could you commit to praying for the event? We’d love
it if you could sign up at the back of church and we’ll be in touch with prayer
request sheets and about our pre-Fully Charged prayer event.
Help subsidize places. Could you be part of our sponsorship program? Fully
Charged costs £40 per child in order to cover costs. We don’t want anyone to
miss out because they can’t afford to pay the full price. We want to offer
subsidized places but need to raise the funds to make this possible. If you would
like to make a donation to this fund please put it in the box at the back of church
or put it in a marked envelope and drop it in at the Lifecentre.

Jesus is at
the Helm
This testimony is about one of
those times when you feel God is
that bit closer than normal.
“I recently drove up to
Northumberland to spend some
time with an ex-work colleague
and his wife after finding out that
he had suddenly been diagnosed
with terminal cancer. It has come
as a big shock to him and he is
only beginning to come to terms
with it. I hoped I would have the
opportunity to talk to him about
the Lord, but neither he nor his
wife are Christians and I know his
views would not normally
welcome that kind of a
conversation.
On the night that I ‘phoned him to
arrange the visit, I had a vivid
dream which seemed to speak
into his situation and which left
me wondering if it could be for
him. But God has never spoken
to me through a dream before and
I wanted to be sure before saying
anything about it.
In the dream, a friend and I were
heading to catch a boat. It was a
dark night and my friend wasn’t
sure if he wanted to get on the
boat. But it was the last boat and
if we didn’t get on this boat, we
wouldn’t get to where we wanted
to be. When we reached the
place where the boat would come
in, there were already a handful of
people waiting for it. They were
queuing beside a large rock. The
boat hadn’t yet come in but it
would only be a small boat and
we could see that the sea that
night was very rough, not the sort
of conditions for going out in a
small boat. I was prepared to
chance it, but I didn’t know about
my friend. Then I woke up – but
as I was waking and remembering
the dream, the words came into
my mind, “Jesus is at the helm”.

As I was driving up to
Northumberland, I was thinking
about that dream. Was the ‘friend’

I was travelling to see? Did the ahead…
Lord want me to share it with him?
I couldn’t be sure. Nearing my

destination, I started to look at the Monday 19
signposts, so I would know where 3.30pm Fireworks in Church
to turn off the A1, but that dream 7.30pm Leaders huddle
was still on my mind. In fact, I had

just repeated those final words, Tuesday 20
“Jesus is at the helm”, when my 10.00am Little Lights in Church
eyes immediately settled on a small 7.00pm Pulse Café
signpost at the side of the road. 7.30pm Men’s Curry Night
The signpost said, “Helm, ¼ mile”. 7.45pm Ytime in Lifecentre
To say I was ‘taken aback’ would

be an understatement. I was even Wednesday 21
more astounded when after 10.00am Sparklers in Church
checking later in a road atlas, I 12.00pm Holy Communion
discovered that the village of Helm

in Northumberland is the only one Thursday 22
of that name listed in the whole of 10.00am Stars in Church
the British Isles. I had glanced at 7.30pm Pulse Small Groups
the only road sign to “Helm” in

Britain at the exact moment when Friday 23
the word “helm” was on my lips.

Was that a co-incidence, or was it a Saturday 24
God-incidence?

Then, a few minutes later, I 9.15am Parish Communion
reached my turning and was 10:30am Children at Lifecentre
amazed once more to see that the 10:45am Core 11-14s
signpost at that turning carried the 10.45am Worship Together
name “Rock”, a place I had 6.30pm N Counter followed by
previously not known about but social time
which turned out to be only a
couple of miles from the village
where my friend lives. The large
rock in my dream, standing beside
the place where the boat was to
leave from, had been the one
feature that had puzzled me. It
seemed a pointless detail. What
possible significance could that
have? Now I understood! Church Office

Seeing those two signposts Romiley, Stockport
encouraged me to believe that the SK6 4BN
dream was meant for my friend and
later that evening, I did get the
