Ethel married her Sailor, Hayward Kimble and moved to

Cincinnati. There she met her lifelong friend, Mrs. Beatrice
Pickard. Even though her home church was Jerrell Baptist
Church, started by her cousin, the Rev. A. L. Goodwin, she chose
to unite with New Hope Baptist Church (under the pastorship of
Rev. J.M. Stephens) where she was extremely active until her
health begun to fail. Some of her activities included: Womens
Day Speaker, Missionary Society, Gospel Choir, Sunday School
Teacher, Teachers Meeting Leader, Christmas, Easter and
Childrens Day Co-Leader (during the early years), just to name
a few. She received numerous awards for her faithful service to
the Sunday School Department. She poured herself into her
church and her nieces and nephews. Her legacy is still evident
today in the lives of those whom she touched and taught.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother: Percy
Dukes, Jr. and one sister: Margaret Dukes Robinson.
She leaves to cherish her memory, sister: Carolyn (Colleen) Jones,
