Quick Start Guide

Key things to know about your IronKey
It’s encrypted—always. Your System Administrator has begun the setup

Frequently Asked Questions
I plug it in, but nothing seems to happen. Why?
Your computer may not allow devices to auto-run. Start
it manually by clicking on the on the IronKey icon in “My
Computer” and running “IronKey.exe”. Make sure you are
using Windows 2000, XP or Vista.
I receive network connection errors. Why?
Your IronKey may not know how you connect to the
Internet on your computer. If you are behind a proxy, you
may need to configure your IronKey’s network settings by
clicking the “Edit Proxy Settings...” link.
A prompt appears saying I need to restart. Do I?
Some Windows systems prompt you to restart your
computer after the first plug your IronKey in. This is not
necessary since the IronKey does not install any drivers
or software. You can safely close that prompt.
Why does my IronKey not have all the features?
Your System Administrator has configured your IronKey
ahead of time to meet your organization’s security needs.
I forgot my device password. What should I do?
If you have backed up your device password to your
my.ironkey.com account, go to https://my.ironkey.com to
recover it. Otherwise, contact your System Admin for
assistance. Do not try until your IronKey self-destructs.

Physically secure your IronKey to your keychain, or
use the lanyard provided. Take it wherever you go.
Claim your IronKey as your own by engraving your
signature on the back.
1. Peel away the protective coating.
2. Sign your name, pressing firmly with a ballpoint pen.
Note the unique serial number on the back of your
IronKey, so that you know which IronKey is yours.
Best Practices
Lock your IronKey when it is not in use
Never remove your IronKey when the LED light is on
Never share your password with anyone else
Perform a PC anti-virus scan before using your IronKey
Limited Warranty
IronKey warrants that the media on which the IronKey Secure Flash Drive is delivered will
be free of defects in material and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date
of activation. If any IronKey fails to so conform, or proves to have any such defects during
such one (1) year period, IronKey, at its option, will provide a new or refurbished IronKey at
no charge to you. The foregoing warranty (i) applies only to the original Customer or the
Customer’s legal representative with proof of purchase, and (ii) will not apply to any IronKey
that has been damaged as a result of negligent handling, modification, disassembly or misuse.

FCC Compliance and Advisory Statement
This hardware device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the
following two conditions: 1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and 2) this de-
vice must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired
operation. This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class
B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide
reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equip-
ment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed or used in

However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation.
If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which

the receiving antenna; 2) increase the separation between the equipment and the receiver; 3)
connect the equipment to an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is

or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void
the user’s authority to operate the equipment. Where shielded interface cables have been
provided with the product or specified additional components or accessories elsewhere
defined to be used with the installation of the product, they must be used in order to ensure
compliance with FCC regulations.
Canadian DOC Class B Compliance Statement
This digital apparatus does not exceed the Class B limits for radio noise emissions from
digital apparatus set out in the radio interference regulations of the Canadian Department of
Communications.

Limited Warranty
