My Sling Collection
Since I've been talking about these slings, I thought I'd share some of my
collection with you guys. This isn't all of them (the rest are displayed in my
office), but it's about 1/2. A couple of the smaller insignia I blew up so they were
easier to see. Enjoy.

GaryV, could you identify the symbol on each sling for us? In other words, name
the brigade from which each sling came? It's a fantastic collection.

I'll try. I don't know all of them. If anyone knows one I don't, please feel free to
chime in.

Here's one of my most recent acquisitions. I had to have this one, it was so funny.

I like the middle one in the top pic. What is the creature? A rhino?

wow, thats a lot of slings. You still need one from my old unit, Givati and one
from the Nachal Brigade.
Nice collection, it looks as if some of them are used, probably been to some fun
stomping grounds with their previous "owners"

Like I said, this is only about half of them. I do have a Givati (I was even selling
them!), but I don't have a Nachal.
Yeah, several are quite used. A few of them smelled funny till they aired out well,

So what is the preferred method for wrapping up the para cord for a galil and AR
for one of these slings.
I've seen pics, but nothing clear enough to see how it is done.

I'm out of town right now, but I'll take some pics when I get home tomorrow.

Okay, so here's how the paracord is used (sorry about the blurry pics - the
autofocus on my smaller camera doesn't do well with smaller objects):
First, fold a piece (at least 18" long) in half and then put a simple overhand knot
in the closed end, leaving a loop in the end.

Finally, run one strand through the sling mounting point on your rifle, and then
bring the two ends back together and do another overhand knot.
Don't try to use a square knot to attach it to the rifle, as paracord doesn't hold
square knots very well. It will slip out and your rifle will fall. Make sure the
overhand knot is tight, and that you leave a fair amount of cord at the end.

We always take a lighter and run it over the knots in the cord in order to 'tighten'
the knots. Just do it enough to where you see the knot constricting just a
bit..then...
You cut down the extra thread above the knots, fairly close to the knots (you only
need very little of the extra cord at the top of the knot), and 'melt' the top cut
part over the knot, wet your fingers and runthe wet over (hear the sizzle again)
and this will lock the knot for good.
The extra cord might catch on fire a bit, but when it does, blow it out, and run
your wet fingers to mold the melted cord over the knot. *(make sure you wet
them good or you will get a burn).
Sorry if this is not a great explanation...but, it secures it.
