I am delighted to write a letter of recommendation for Annie Nguyen for an elementary school teaching
position. It was my pleasure to mentor and supervise Annie as a student teacher in a 2nd grade classroom at
Springbrook Elementary School in Irvine Unified School District from January -March 2016. Her responsibilities
to the class during this time included long term instructional planning, whole class and small group instruction,
participation in school-wide professional development, and general classroom management.

Annie is an organized, confident, and caring teacher. She has a natural teaching ability, which includes sincere
attention to her students academic and social needs. Her detailed lesson plans are differentiated and
thoughtful, resulting in a classroom full of engaged and focused learners. Since the first day, Annie has proven
that she was a leader and role model for the students and has always led by example. She possesses positive
classroom management skills and demonstrates a strong understanding of her students emotional needs.
After each lesson, Annie genuinely takes the time to reflect on her teaching and adjust her instruction to
ensure she is reaching all of her students.

Our program at UCI strives to prepare our student teachers for the realities of teaching elementary school.
Annie is well versed in the expectations of the Common Core State Standards and is fully prepared to
implement them in the classroom. Annie will easily adapt to new curricular programs and will put in the extra
effort to guarantee that her lessons are differentiated, student-centered and engaging. She is prepared to
assess her students using performance based assessments and rich tasks, in order to fully understand her
students progress and growth needs.

Overall, I would highly recommend Annie Nguyen. Her positive attitude, dedication to her students, and
desire to continue her own learning will be an asset to your school district. I believe she will act as a true
