Dr. Mark A. McCleary, Pastor Robin P.

Walker, Chaplain
Dear Visitors & Friends,

On behalf of the First Church of Seventh Day Adventist, I would like to welcome you to our First
Annual Community Day of Awareness for HIV/AIDS and Cancer. A full day of events has been
meticulously planned for your spiritual and educational benefit.

To start off the Community Day of Awareness, a prayer breakfast has been planned where we
will pray for all members of our community who are suffering from cancer, hypertension, or
HIV/AIDS. As we move throughout this day, I would also like for you to keep Senator Ted
Kennedy, who has brain cancer, in your thoughts and prayers. There will also be breast cancer
screening signup, anonymous HIV/AIDS testing, limited prostate and blood pressure screenings,
lectures, exhibits, and a healthy cooking demonstration.

Many times we take our health for granted, and I would like to personally take this opportunity
to encourage you to make a personal choice to be proactive in caring for our bodies.

May God Bless You This Day and Always,

Dr. Mark A. McCleary, Pastor

The First Church of Seventh-day Adventists is a community of believers
who confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. In continuity with the people
of God in Old Testament times, we are called out from the world; and we
join together for worship, for fellowship, for instruction in the Word, for
the celebration of the Lord's Supper, for service to all mankind, and for
the worldwide proclamation of the gospel.

In faithfulness to our charge, we come in worship and leave to serve. Wholistic ministry is our
vision as we strive to emulate the command of Jesus to help the "least of these." Our aim is to
be a lighthouse to our community. In communion with the Father, Jesus our Savior and Elder
Brother, and the Holy Spirit, as our Comforter, we can do all things.

In addition to our aim, our goal is to positively affect the quality of life of our members and
visitors in such a way that when we appear before the judgment bar, our Savior and Judge will
be so satisfied with our stewardship that He will say to us "Well done, thou good and faithful
servant."

Our Mission is to nurture the spiritual, mental, and physical well-being of its members and
surrounding community by sharing and administering the Good News of Salvation. (Matthew
28:18-20; Luke 19:10; John 10:10).
Dear Distinguished Colleagues,

We extend to you thanks for participating in our First Annual

Community Day of Awareness on HIV/AIDS and Cancer. This day is
made possible through the companies, organizations, exhibitors, and
hospitals which you are affiliated. We deeply appreciate their
support and your willingness to lend us your time, expertise, and
talent. Please know that we are very grateful.

We would also like to thank our partners and sponsors. They

include, but are not limited to Target, Giant of Maryland LLC, The Community
Services Partnership, and the FCSDA leaders for their collaboration in making this day a success for all.

Warmly,

Chaplain Robin P. Walker, MDiv.

“If we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. 1 John 4:12 (NIV)
Prayer for Senator Ted Kennedy

Lord, the members of the First Church of Seventh-day Adventist are sad to hear that Senator
Kennedy has been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. You created him with the gifts to
champion many causes on our behalf; civil rights, homelessness, healthcare and the poor
among us. He is a great advocate of the America’s poor and middle class people. Now, that he
has fallen ill we advocate on his behalf by praying for his health and beseeching YOU to wrap
him in a warm blanket of your love while he recovers.

Amen.

“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, and virtue with knowledge.”
John 1:2 (KJV)

“For this very reason make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with
knowledge.” 2 Peter 1:5 (KJV)
“A human tragedy of one man and one family,
to a community of commitment and outreach”

In 2003, The Faces Project was created and conceived by Mr. “O.D.” Dickson, Jr., along with his
son, Onias “Timothy” Dickson.

The Faces Project was their response to a personal crisis that Mr. Dickson and his family had to
face. Having lost his father O.D. Dickson, Sr. in 1993 to prostate cancer; Mr. Dickson, Jr. was
diagnosed with “metastatic prostate cancer” just ten years later.

What angered Mr. Dickson, more than anything else, was the failure on the part of his father’s
doctors to tell him that heredity was a very real “risk” factor, and that an annual “PSA”
screening is advised.

With three sons, (8, 13, 17) and a legacy of prostate cancer, Mr. Dickson decided to take on the
challenge finding the best care for himself and the responsibility of educating and saving other
men and their families from the ravages and shame of prostate cancer and prostate disease.
