IGI AIRPORT DELHI

HELICOPTER ROUTES

1. Helicopter routing to and from IGI Airport

Factors common to all helicopter routings;

a. All pilots to establish their position with reference to landmarks given in the corridor. If the
identification of landmark is not feasible, helicopter shall remain beyond 15 NM of IGI
airport and follow ATC instructions.
b. All helicopter pilots to maintain 500 ft AGL within 10NM and 1000 ft AGL beyond 10NM or
as instructed by ATC or specified in the procedure.
c. Helicopter shall maintain two way communications with Delhi Approach when beyond 5NM
and Delhi tower when within 5NM of IGI airport or as instructed by ATC.
d. ATC may require helicopter to orbit due traffic.
e. ATC may authorize direct routings to expedite the traffic.
f. Coordinates of land marks given in the helicopter routing are: Tihar Jail [28º37’07”N,
077º06’10”E], FCI Godown Naraina [28º37’53”N, 077º07’51”E] Pritam Pura TV
tower [28º42’11”N, 077º08’43”E], Majnu Ka Tila Gurudwara [28º41’49”N, 077º13’38”E],
Nahar Singh Stadium, Faridabad [28º23’14”N, 077º17’46”E], Rohtak [28º54’02”N,
076º34’10”E], DLF Green tower on NH8 [28º30’00”N, 077º05’23”E], Manesar [28º21’25”N,
076º56’07”E], Bahadurgarh Aerodrome [28º43’08”N, 076º52’00”E].

2. For Special VFR: “The procedure shall be followed by helicopter pilots holding valid
instruments ratings or pilots having authorization in accordance with Civil Aviation
Requirements Section XIII series O part I dated 6th September, 2004 and with appropriate
instrumentarían on board”.
