The Normal Christian Life

The Holy Spirit

• We saw it is the eternal purpose of God to bring many
sons into glory-
• “But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than
the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with
glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might
taste death for everyone.
For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and
by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory,
to make the captain of their salvation perfect through
sufferings. For both He who sanctifies and those who
are being sanctified are all of one, for which reason He
is not ashamed to call them brethren,” Heb.2:9-11
• He took what you had—so you could take what
He had!
• He was born of Holy Spirit—”do not be afraid to
take to you Mary your wife, for that which is
conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit” Mt1:20
• You were born of the Spirit-”The wind blows
where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but
cannot tell where it comes from and where it
goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
Jn.3:8
• It is IMPERATIVE that we KNOW and LIVE our lives
with the personal presence and ministry of the
Holy Spirit!
• “because the love of God has been poured out in
our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to
us.” Ro.5:5
• But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if
indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if
anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is
not His. Ro.8:9
• The ministry of the Holy Spirit is two-fold:
• Outward—manifestations of power
• Inward—indwelling PERSON of the Holy Spirit
38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has

said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living

water.” 39 But this He spoke concerning the
Spirit, whom those believing[a] in Him would
receive; for the Holy[b] Spirit was not yet given,
because Jesus was not yet glorified. Jn.7
• 13However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has
come, He will guide you into all truth; for He
will not speak on His own authority, but
whatever He hears He will speak; and He will
tell you things to come. 14 He will glorify Me,
for He will take of what is Mine and declare it
to you. 15 All things that the Father has are
Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of
Mine and declare it to you
• Important Truths in this verse:
• The Holy Spirit will always bring you to the
TRUTH—this is not just correct doctrine but
truth as REALITY, and this reality is a Person
• The Holy Spirit will always glorify Jesus and
make sure He is being lifted up
• The Holy Spirit will DECLARE what is “of” God-
Declare carries the idea of putting it on display
• What is God putting on display? Jesus
• Whom has He chosen to be the vessels? US!
• “For it is the God who commanded light to
shine out of darkness, who has shone in our
hearts to give the light of the knowledge of
the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels,
that the excellence of the power may be of
God and not of us.” 2 Cor.4:6-7
• God has no problem showing His strength
through our weakness but cannot nor will He
move beyond our “controversies”
• Or do you not know that your body is the
temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom
you have from God, and you are not your
own? For you were bought at a price;
therefore glorify God in your body[a] and in
your spirit, which are God’s 1 Cor.6:19-20
