THE IMMERSIVE MULTI-WALLED VIRTUAL REALITY SYSTEM

STEP INTO A VIRTUAL WORLD WITH ACTIVECUBE

Virtalis believes that advanced visualisation and VRs significant benefits are the key to optimising all
working practices. Thats why we developed ACTIVECUBE, a multi-walled installed, immersive,
interactive 3D visualisation system that sets the industry benchmark for both price and performance.

ACTIVECUBE is considered by many to be the ultimate interactive 3D visualisation system. It achieves a high level of immersion
thanks to the stereoscopic images fired at multiple screens surrounding the user. Believability is further reinforced by the
integral tracking, which allows entirely natural, real-time human-scale interaction with objects in the virtual world.
ACTIVECUBE environments allow for stronger insight and appreciation of information and data at a natural human-scale,
enhancing understanding and stimulating communication. In recent years, Virtalis has designed and installed more multisided ACTIVECUBE VR systems than any other company and they are popular with academics and with industrial users where
they transform research programmes, design reviews and teaching/training exercises.

ACTIVECUBE provides life-like peripheral vision which

makes it much more personal and convincing than most
VR systems deployed.
Luke Bracegirdle, IT Development Director, School of Pharmacy, Keele University.

Virtalis provided a detailed specification of the ACTIVECUBE

system to be provided and had obviously taken great care to
consider our requirements when designing it.

INSPIRE, INVENT AND INNOVATE

WITH VIRTALIS TECHNOLOGY
ACTIVECUBE draws on active stereo technology and features custom screens and mounting structure, specialist
computers, Virtalis custom software and powerful projectors. Movements within the ACTIVECUBE environment are
tracked using a tracking system which alters the perspective of the visuals according to the users position and
orientation. Using the hand-held controller allows the user to navigate through the virtual world, pick and manipulate
component parts in real time and make decisions on the fly. Our systems are scalable and easily upgradable and our
users consider them extremely cost effective to run and virtually future proof.

Our incredibly high resolution Virtalis ACTIVECUBE is

the only one of its kind in the country. The main reason
we chose Virtalis is because they have the experience
and expertise to support us while we develop our
offering, not just with their immersive displays, but in
developing specialist software applications that will
benefit our students and the wider business community."

ACTIVECUBE uses high brightness, high frame rate, active stereoscopic

3D three chip DLP projectors across two, three, four and even five-sided
structures, powered by Virtalis PC clustering technology to give the right
resolution for your application. Systems can run a diverse range of
software packages and come with ACTIVEWORKS3D eyewear, head and
hand tracking, installation and support. Additionally, an ACTIVECUBE can
be linked to other ACTIVEWORKS systems so that remotely located
participants can interact together simultaneously in the virtual scene.

We envisage three to four people interacting in our

ACTIVECUBE with their movements being watched by
up to 25 more observers via the ACTIVEWALL. We also
see them being linked with other VR centres worldwide
to allow us to carry out international design,
manufacturing and assembly reviews, as well as
complex training exercises.
