TWO-MASSES only TODAY March 13

UCC Spring Break Schedule March 14-19

The UCC will be CLOSED for Spring

Break! The building will be locked from
March 14th through March 19th, and our
normal schedule will be suspended until the
following week. There will be no Masses,
Confession times, or any other regularly-scheduled activities. Our
normal schedule will resume with a full 4-Mass Sunday on March
20th. Have a great break, and stay safe!

Our Gifts to God

Palm Sunday 11:30 am mass

On Sunday, March 20th at the 11:30 am Mass we

will begin on the plaza in front of the Harry Ransom
Center across the street for our annual initial
gathering with St. Austin for the Palm Sunday
Procession.
No carbos for Christ Wednesday, March 23

During Holy Week, there will be no Carbos for Christ on

Wednesday, March 23rd. Carbos will resume on March 30th!

The UCC will offer an additional

Reconciliation Time during Holy Week.
Instead of our usual Carbos for Christ lunch,
we will offer Reconciliation on Wednesday,
March 23 beginning at 12:30 pm.
No Group events during holy Week

Please note that, in observance of Holy Week, the

UCC does not host any group activities. All of the
usual group meetings are canceled from Palm Sunday,
March 20 through Easter Monday, March 28. Please
take the time to prepare for the Triduum. For the full
Triduum schedule, please see the next page.

Apply for longhorn awakening 60!

Longhorn Awakening is a weekend retreat for

students who want to grow in faith and fellowship
alongside other young adult Christians.

When: April 1-3

Where: Eagles Wings Retreat Center in Burnet,
TX (just outside Austindont worry, we carpool!).
Registration is open from February 19March 19.
A $55 fee is required to attend, which will cover sleeping
accommodations, food for the entire weekend, and a t-shirt.

Holy Triduum at the UCC

Donate Lilies for Easter!

the UCC no later than Holy Thursday (March 24). You
can turn them in at the front desk or leave them in the
Holy Spirit Chapel near the baptismal font at any time during open

Catechumen profiles Kayla Grissett & Jacob Buckles Rehearsals for triduum liturgies

We want everyone in the UCC community to get to know those

who are going through RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults)
to become full members of the Catholic Church at Easter. Today
we profile Kayla Grissett and Jacob Buckles!

Hi, my name is Kayla Grissett, and Im a Freshman at UT. I am

from Markham, Texas, a small town on the coast. I grew up and
was baptized as a Baptist, but after attending Catholic masses at
home and at the UCC, I decided that Catholicism was for me. I was
originally a Mathematics/Computer Science major, but I am
making the exciting switch to Social Work!
Hello UCC Community! My name is Jacob
Buckles, and I am a first-year Biochem major
from Orange, Texas, which is located within the
Diocese of Beaumont. I am fresh to the Catholic
faith, and also fresh to Austin. Moving here was
nothing short of perfect for starting a new,
riveting spiritual journey as well as starting with
a clean slate. I decided to undertake in this
journey in faith this summer right after my high
school graduation when I attended my first ever Catholic Mass with
my two best friends--one of whom would become my sponsor.
This particular mass was the Men's ACTS retreat mass, and the
experience was nothing like I'd ever felt before, and for the first
time, I felt the presence of the Holy Spirit at such an unprecedented
level. With regards to how I found the UCC, I was fortunate
enough to stumble across their table set up at Freshman Orientation
a few weeks after I attended my first mass. Currently at UT, I am a
member of the Longhorn Band, and I am also considering pursuing
a double-major with Spanish as my second field of study. I also have
a very acute case of Tourette Syndrome, and have one earlobe that
is attached, and one that is unattached. I cannot thank you all
enough for welcoming me into your community, and I can't wait to
get to know y'all better! Hook 'em and God Bless! :)
