Death to
Life, Part
2 (Just
Jesus
Evangelis
tic
Campaig
n, Day
55)
TEXT:
John
5:24-27
24 Verily,
verily, I
say unto
you, He
that
heareth
my word,
and
believeth
on him
that sent
me, hath
everlasti
ng life,
and shall
not come
into
condemn
ation; but
is passed
from
death
unto life.
25 Verily,
verily, I
say unto
you, The
hour is
coming,
and now
is, when
the dead
shall
hear the
voice of
the Son
of God:
and they
that hear
shall live.
26 For as
the
Father
hath life
in
himself;
so hath
he given
to the
Son to
have life
in
himself;
27 And
hath
given
him
authority
to
execute
judgment
also,
because
he is the
Son of
man.
----------
Today, I
am
continuin
g the
daily Just
Jesus
Evangelis
tic
Campaig
n sermon
series,
which is
aimed at
sharing
the
Gospel of
the Lord
Jesus
Christ
with
unbelieve
rs and
remindin
g
Christian
s, in this
important
election
year, to
keep the
main
thing the
main
thing -and that
is
reaching
unbelieve
rs with
the
Gospel of
the Lord
Jesus
Christ
and
praying
for their
salvation,
for the
problem
in
America
is not
only
disobedie
nt
president
s
politician
s, and
people,
but
disobedie
nt
pastors,
preacher
s, and
parishion
ers who
have
refused
to obey
the
Lords
Great
Commiss
ion which
is to, Go
ye
therefore,
and teach
all
nations
and who
have
refused
to obey
God's
repeated
comman
ds to
"pray
without
ceasing"
for
unbelieve
rs,
believers,
and
political
leaders.
Yes, you
should
pray for
the right
candidate
to win;
yes, you
should
vote for
the
candidate
that the
Lord
gives you
peace
about
voting
for. But,
don't get
caught
up in it
like the
world
does.
Nothing
much is
going to
change
until
people
get saved
and get
their
hearts
right with
the Lord.
This
campaign
is
inspired
by the
following
three
verses: 1
Corinthia
ns 2:2
which
says,
"For I
determin
ed not to
know
anything
among
you, save
Jesus
Christ,
and him
crucified.
" Acts
5:42
which
says,
"And
daily in
the
temple,
and in
every
house,
they
ceased
not to
teach and
preach
Jesus
Christ."
And 2
Timothy
2:4 which
says, "No
man that
warreth
entanglet
h himself
with the
affairs of
this life;
that he
may
please
him who
hath
chosen
him to be
a
soldier."
This
series is
not for
Christian
s
necessari
ly.
However,
I do hope
you are
one of
those
saints
who still
loves to
hear the
"Old, old
story of
Jesus
and His
love" -As
another
hymn
says,
"For
those
who
know it
best
Seem
hungerin
g and
thirsting
to hear it
like the
rest."
This
series is
primarily
for
unbelieve
rs, so
they can
hear and
understa
nd the
Gospel
and be
saved
from sin
and the
punishm
ent of sin
which is
hell. This
is
message
number
55.
John
Wycliffe
said, "It
is not
good for
us to
trust in
our
merits, in
our
virtues or
our
righteous
ness; but
only in
God's
free
pardon,
as given
us
through
faith in
Jesus
Christ."
As we
saw from
this
passage
on
yesterday
, those
who hear
Jesus'
words
and
believe
on Him
immediat
ely pass
from
spiritual
death to
spiritual
life. That
is the
effect a
relations
hip with
God
through
Jesus
Christ
has on a
person's
life. For
thousand
s of
years,
people
were
comman
ded to
sacrifice
animals
and to
faithfully
keep
rituals
and
religious
observan
ces, yet
they
remained
dead in
their
sins.
In His
remarks
to the
Jewish
religious
leaders,
Jesus
informs
them that
a change
is taking
place
right
before
their
eyes. He
says,
"Verily,
verily, I
say unto
you, The
hour is
coming,
and now
is, when
the dead
shall hear
the voice
of the
Son of
God: and
they that
hear shall
live." The
sacrifices
and
religious
rituals of
the Old
Testamen
t were
always
meant to
be
temporar
y.
Galatians
3:24
says,
the law
was our
schoolma
ster to
bring us
unto
Christ.
When
Jesus
came on
the
scene,
God was
announci
ng that
everythin
g would
be
different.
"The
hour is
coming
and now
is..."
Sacrifice
s and
rituals
would no
longer be
necessar
y to be in
right
standing
with God.
Jesus,
the living
Savior,
walked
with us
on this
earth and
spoke to
us. He is
Immanuel
, God
with us,
in the
flesh. He
is the
lamb of
God who
took
away the
sins of
the
world. To
know
Jesus is
to know
God. We
do not
need
animal
sacrifices
or rituals
when we
have the
living
God.
Imagine
that you
have a
wellknown
family
member
you have
never
met. You
might
look at
old
photos of
that
person.
You
might
watch
home
videos of
that
person.
You
might
hear a
recording
of their
voice.
Other
people
might tell
you
stories of
that
person's
life. But
nothing
measures
up to
when that
person
arrives
and you
meet
them for
yourself,
when you
touch
them and
hear their
voice for
the first
time with
your own
ears.
That is
what it
was like
when
Jesus
came to
earth.
Previousl
y, we
only had
the
stories,
photos,
and voice
recording
s; but,
now, we
have the
living
God
himself -Immanuel
, God
with us.
Because
Jesus
came,
poor
sinners
like us
have an
opportuni
ty to hear
His
words
and pass
from
death to
life.
Jesus
said, "the
dead
shall hear
the voice
of the
Son of
God: and
they that
hear shall
live."
Jesus'
words
are
powerful;
they are
the
words of
God
Himself.
If God
could
create
the world
with just
His
words,
surely He
can save
human
souls
with just
His
words.
Warren
Wiersbe
said,
"How are
dead
sinners
raised
from the
dead? By
hearing
God's
Word and
believing
on God's
Son.
Jesus
healed
the
paralyzed
man at
the pool
by His
word.
Each
time He
raised
somebod
y from
the dead,
He spoke
the word.
His Word
is 'living
and
powerful'
and can
raise
sinners
from
spiritual
death...
To hear
His word
and
believe
means
salvation;
to reject
His Word
means
condemn
ation."
In the
Bible,
hearing
does not
simply
mean the
reception
of sound
by our
ears; it
also
entails
acting on
what is
heard.
Have you
ever
heard the
phrase,
"to hear
is to
obey"?
You
might
think it
comes
from the
Arabian
Nights or
the
Chronicle
s of
Narnia;
but it
goes
much
further
back than
those
popular
stories. It
comes
from the
Jewish
word,
"shema."
In our
English
Bibles,
the word
"shema"
is
typically
translate
d "hear."
But,
when the
Jews
used this
word,
they
meant
both
hearing
and
acting on
what was
heard.
Jesus,
being a
Jewish
rabbi
speaking
to Jewish
religious
leaders,
would
have
communi
cated the
same
thing. He
said, "the
dead
shall hear
the voice
of the
Son of
God: and
they that
hear shall
live." Not
only
must
those
who are
spirituall
y dead
"hear"
Jesus'
words,
but they
must
obey
them.
We will
not be
born
again by
simply
hearing
Jesus'
words;
we must
act on
them, we
must
obey
them.
Will you
hear AND
obey
Jesus
today so
that you
can pass
from
death to
life?
If you
have not
yet
believed
on Jesus
Christ as
your
Saviour,
here is
how.
1. Accept
the fact
that you
are a
sinner,
and that
you have
broken
God's
law. The
Bible
says in
Ecclesias
tes 7:20:
"For
there is
not a just
man
upon
earth that
doeth
good,
and
sinneth
not."
Romans
3:23
reads:
"For all
have
sinned
and come
short of
the glory
of God."
In fact, I
am the
chief of
sinners,
so don't
think that
you're
alone.
2. Accept
the fact
that there
is a
penalty
for sin.
The Bible
states in
Romans
6:23:
"For the
wages of
sin is
death"
3. Accept
the fact
that you
are on
the road
to hell.
Jesus
Christ
said in
Matthew
10:28:
"And fear
not them
which kill
the body,
but are
not able
to kill the
soul: but
rather
fear him
which is
able to
destroy
both soul
and body
in hell."
The Bible
says in
Revelatio
n 21:8:
"But the
fearful,
and
unbelievi
ng, and
the
abomina
ble, and
murderer
s, and
whoremo
ngers
and
sorcerers
, and
idolaters,
and all
liars,
shall
have
their part
in the
lake
which
burneth
with fire
and
brimston
e: which
is the
second
death."
4. Accept
the fact
that you
cannot
do
anything
to save
yourself!
The Bible
states in
Ephesian
s 2: 8, 9:
"For by
grace are
ye saved
through
faith: and
that not
of
yourselve
s: it is a
gift of
God. Not
of works,
lest any
man
should
boast."
5. Accept
the fact
that God
loves you
more
than you
love
yourself,
and that
He wants
to save
you from
hell.
Jesus
Christ
said in
John
3:16, "For
God so
loved the
world,
that He
gave His
only
begotten
Son, that
whosoev
er
believeth
in Him
should
not
perish,
but have
everlastin
g life."
6. With
these
facts in
mind,
please
repent of
your
sins,
believe
on the
Lord
Jesus
Christ
and pray
and ask
Him to
come
into your
heart and
save you
this very
moment.
The Bible
states in
the book
of
Romans
10:9, 13:
"That if
thou
shalt
confess
with thy
mouth
the Lord
Jesus,
and shalt
believe in
thine
heart that
God hath
raised
Him from
the dead,
thou
shalt be
saved."
"For
whosoev
er shall
call upon
the name
of the
Lord
shall be
saved."
If you
believe
that
Jesus
Christ
died on
the cross
for your
sins, was
buried,
and rose
from the
dead, and
you want
to trust
Him for
your
salvation
today,
please
pray with
me this
simple
prayer:
Holy
Father
God, I
realize
that I am
a sinner
and that I
have
done
some bad
things in
my life. I
am sorry
for my
sins, and
I want to
turn from
my sins.
For
Jesus
Christ
sake,
please
forgive
me of my
sins. I
now
believe
with all of
my heart
that
Jesus
Christ
died for
me, was
buried,
and rose
again. I
trust Him
as my
Savior
and
follow
Him as
Lord
from this
day
forward.
Lord
Jesus,
please
come
into my
heart and
save my
soul and
change
my life
today.
Amen.
If you
believed
in your
heart that
Jesus
Christ
died on
the
cross,
was
buried,
and rose
again,
allow me
to say,
congratul
ations on
doing the
most
important
thing in
life and
that is
accepting
Jesus
Christ as
your Lord
and
Saviour!
