Attorney Peter D.

Muller has qualified to compete against Judge John Pancho Morse

for the position of Superior Court Judge in the May 24 election. We have only 6
Superior Court Judges, and our felony and civil dockets are full. Chatham County cannot
afford to have a judge who doesnt pull his weight. We need someone with a renewed
sense of urgency and zeal, Muller said. I have spent the last 29 years in the private
sector, running law offices, getting to work early and staying late, and I will bring that
same work ethic to the bench.
Status quo simply is not good enough. Morse was first appointed as a judge by Gov.
Zell Miller in 1992 and has never faced an opponent.
Muller, a native Savannahian and graduate of Benedictine, has practiced law in
Savannah since 1987. He is President-Elect of the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association,
with 800 attorneys who represent primarily defendants in civil lawsuits. He has handled
a variety of civil and criminal litigation.
I have spent 29 years representing people in court and have a keen understanding of
just how stressful litigation is to everyone involved. The parties and the victims of crime
deserve a judge who will treat everyone with respect and make the process go as
smoothly and efficiently as possible, explained Muller.
They want a judge who remembers what it is like to be on the other side of that judicial
bench.
Morse graduated from Mercer Law School and had practiced law for only 9 years when
he was appointed by Gov. Miller to be the youngest-ever Chatham County State Court
Judge in 1992. Three years later, Miller elevated him to superior court.
Muller also cited the recent events involving early-release decisions by the Board of
Pardons and Paroles. If the board bureaucrats are going to be making decisions on
cutting sentences, we at least need to make sure that our judges are imposing the proper
sentences at the front end.
Muller graduated from the University of Georgia and the UGA School of Law, where he
was on the editorial board of the Georgia Law Review. He is the managing partner of
Goodman McGuffey Lindsey & Johnsons Savannah office and was a partner at Bouhan,
Williams & Levy for many years.
Muller is admitted to practice in the U.S. Supreme Court and all courts in Georgia. He has
Martindale-Hubbells highest AV rating. A 1996 graduate of Leadership Savannah, he is

Treasurer of the Hibernian Society, Vice President of the German Heritage Society, and on
the Savannah Arts Academy School Council. He is a communicant of St. James Catholic
Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 631. He and his wife, Lisa, have
been married 31 years and have 3 children.
