This course examines Mans search for meaning within the totality of his Phenomenological experiences. Looking at various theories of different
philosophers regarding man, the course will attempt to provide an introduction to philosophy, the science of the ultimate whys and wherefores of all
things, with man as the key point, the starting, the central and the predominant theme of discussion.

Course Objectives

At the end of the semester, the students will be able to:


1. Have a basic understanding of the importance of Philosophy in everyday practical living;
2. Understand man from different theories of various philosophers;
3. Have a sense of awareness about themselves as human beings in relation to his surroundings and society; and
4. Develop a critical and reflective thinking.
VIII. Course Requirements :
A. Quizzes (10%)
There will be a short quiz at the beginning of each class based on the previous discussion.
B. Reflection paper (15%)
Reflection papers entitled:
1. Listening to the Body Talk Due on midterm minimum of 3 pages.

2. Philosophies worth living for (What have I learned from the Subject) - Due on finals. Minimum of 5 pages..
Beware of plagiarism. Plagiarism is copying another persons work and claiming it as your own. You will automatically
receive a failing mark once caught of committing plagiarism. Make a reflection paper on your own. 5 points deduction per day
of late.
Report (20%)
Specific topic will be assigned to students who will be reporting in pairs. Reports will be taken from the main textbook / reference.
Exams (40%)
Two major exams (Mid-Term and Finals) will be given to assess what the students have learned.
Class Participation and attendance (15%)
Students are expected to participate during class discussions through recitations or submission of assigned tasks as the case may
require it.
4 absences (automatic failure according to CHED rules), 15 minutes late (1 tardy), 3 tardies equals one absence and 45 minutes late is
considered absent.
