INSTRUCTIONS
Complete these TWO questions individually. You are required to submit an essay based
on the following tasks.

TASK 1
Psychology is the science regarding human behavior, whilst Educational Psychology is
the branch of psychology that focuses on learning. There are many theories that explain
learning, one of the well known theory is Behaviorist Learning Theory .
Based on the above statement, explain the core principle of Behaviorist Learning Theory.
Then describe in detail a sample learning activity using the Behaviorist Learning Theory.
(40 marks)

TASK 2

Case Study

Samuel is weak in Mathematics. He claims that he dont understand what the teacher
teaches most of the time. He hardly completes his homework thus the mathematics
teaches labeled him as a weak student. He tends to ignore what the teacher teaches and
this add to his problem in understanding mathematical concepts.

Analyse the above case study, then answer the following questions:

(a) Mathematics is a conceptual subject where students need to develop the right
schema that will make them understand the concept better. In your opinion, explain the
reasons why Samuel is weak in Mathematics. .

(b) Using the Cognitive Learning Theory and Approaches, discuss how you would help
Samuel to understand mathematical concepts better.
