1. Engine reliability statistics
According to AMC1 CAT.POL.H.305(b):
- the operator should provide appropriate engine reliability statistics available for the
helicopter type and the engine type.
- The following documentation should be updated every year:
(i) the document with detailed methodology and calculation as distributed to the authority of the
State of design;
(ii) a summary document with results of computation as made available on request to any
operational authority;
Engine reliability statistics are provided by the engine manufacturer via information letter. Those
documents also include the minimum modification standard for the engine.
2. Report of Power loss rate on Helicopter level
Airbus Helicopters issues every year a document calculating the power loss rate on helicopter level in
accordance with the methodology defined in AMC1 CAT.POL.H.305(b) and distributes it to the National Civil
Aviation Authority. This calculation takes into account the engine reliability statistics as well as airframe
related power loss events. If applicable the document also includes the required helicopter modification
standard.
A summary document providing the results of computation can be made available on request to any
Customer or to any National Civil Aviation Authority.
3. Usage Monitoring System (UMS) implementation
CAT.POL.H.305 (b)(3) states that the operator shall implement a usage monitoring system (UMS) and AMC2
CAT.POL.H.305(b) defines the associated requirements of data recording, storage, self-testing capability,
downloading and analysis.
Airbus Helicopters offers UMS equipment for the EC135 variants with CPDS, BK117 C-2 and BK117 D-2 models.
Please contact your national authority for validation of any other UMS system you may utilize.
