for the United Kingdom, enforcing immigration and customs regulations. The Agency
considers applications for permission to enter or stay in the United Kingdom, citizenship
and asylum. Immigration is one of the highest profile national and global issues.
The International Group of the Agency has responsibility for handling applications
submitted overseas for Entry Clearance into the United Kingdom. The International
Group has a strong history for cutting edge innovation. It has set the standard in the use
of biometrics, commercial partners and excellent customer service.
Applications are invited for Immigration Assistant position - This is a temporary 5 month
maternity cover position - at the British Consulate in Los Angeles. The successful
applicants will work as part of a large team handling the efficient and secure delivery of
UK immigration services in the United States handling about 30,000 visa applications a
year.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
Under US State Department requirements, the British Embassy network may only
employ, as non-diplomatic staff, persons who are US citizens, US Green Card holders or
A Visa holders. If you hold a Visa other than an A Visa you are not currently eligible to
work in the British Embassy network. All candidates will be subject to background
checks and security clearance.
