(a) If you must choose an entry code that consists of a
sequence of six digits, with repeated numbers
allowed, how many entry codes are possible?
(b) If the lock is programmed to recognize eight
different 6-digit codes, with repeated digits allowed
in each code. How many different sets of
recognizable codes are there?
(c) From 1-(b) minimally how many of the eight
different 6-digit codes are needed so that the sum of
the two codes is even. Show your work.
Set A = {x|(x N) and (x < 14)}. Show that if any 7
integers were taken from set A (without repeating),
there will be 2 integers from the 7 integers chosen that
will sum to 13.

11. In a football league there are 4 clubs (club A, club B,


club C, club D) competing.
(a) If each club competing has 20 players (4 strikers,
8 midfields, 8 defends), how many ways are there
to choose a national team of 15 players from the
clubs if the 15 players consist of 4 strikers, 5
midfields and 6 defends.
(b) A club has brought 10 balls to a field. The club
buys balls from only 3 well-know ball
manufacturers. How many combinations of balls
are there those can be brought to the field.
(c) Between club A and club B, club A has twice the
chance to be a winner. Between club B and club
C, club B has three times chance to be a winner.
Club C and club D has the same chance to be a
winner. What are the chances for each club to be
a winner?
12. A witness to the hit and run accident reports to the
police about the plate number of the car that drove off.
According to the witness the cars plate number have
three letters followed by three numbers. The plate start
with PB and numbers consist of 2 and 5. I, O, and Z
cannot be used as a plate number. Note: plate number
such as PBB 001 is not allow but PBB 1 is. How many
different plate number that fulfill the description?
13. At an annual club meeting; there are 20 girls and 17
boys attend the meeting. The club needs to form a
committee of size six.
(a) How many committees are possible?
(b) How many committees are possible if the
committee must have three girls and three boys?

committee must consist of all girls or all boys?
14. Suppose you have 40 different books; 20 computer
books, 15 math books, and 5 physics books.

What is the probability that the two books are
