State Mode of GPS Module

The information in these fields describes the working mode of the GPS module.
The different working modes are:

TRACKED FAST : The module is locked to one or more GPS satellites, but
the internal oscillator is not yet disciplined.

TRACKED : This is the normal mode of working. The module is locked to

one or more GPS satellites.

HOLDOVER : If no input is available, the module enters in holdover mode.

SQUELCHED : After a long time in holdover, the module squelches its

output signal. This time is configurable with HBSQ (Holdover Before
Squelch) value, only for E1.

In this example it illustrates that GPS input is selected and is providing the
synchronization source to the Output Interface Units (OIU-8) and to the ReTiming
Unit (RTU).

Note:
If no reference signal is selected (e.g. due to invalid synchronization
signal), no connection link will be shown.

Outputs Cards Operational State

These symbols represent the operational state of the synchronization output
signals.
The output/re-timing cards are shown as two parallel lines with triangle
arrowheads.

The color of the arrowhead indicates the output/re-timing cards operational state,
as shown in the following key.
Purple :

Card extracted

Green :

Signal valid

Red :

Output failure

Grey :

Empty slot

Information about card type is displayed above and on the right of the line symbol
of the output item.
A right mouse click will bring up the output line contextual menu. The option <
Details> will allow extra status reporting and command/control if the output card
has available advanced functionality (Menu item not grayed). See chapter

By selecting the Set Priority option from the drop-down menu that appears
after right-clicking the mouse any place in the Input section of the block
diagram.

Enable / disable input signals

Following the same procedure as described under Set Priorities on input signals;
the operator has the choice to disable or enable an input signal.

By Disabling an input signal,

the user tells the equipment not to use this signal anymore.

By Enabling an input signal,

the user tells the equipment that this signal has now been made available
for use again.

In this example, GPS input is disabled, and Auxiliary input is enabled.

1.3.16 Forced SSM Quality

The forced quality has more priority than the quality read by the input card,
meaning that if a quality is forced, it is the quality that will be considered in the
input selection algorithm. The configuration of the forced quality is accessible by
the following two menus :
The dialog box allowing the configuration of a forced quality on an input card
appears.
Forced quality
on the element
interface.

It is possible to force a quality on GPS and Auxiliary input.

When the quality of an input is forced, the element interface indicates the quality
with "Forced" (as shown above). When the quality is not forced, it is indicated
with the quality read on the input signal.

"Logical View" Management

1.3.17 Provisionable Quality

This quality is only available in the T1 (1544 kbit/s) release of GPS 5581C. It is a
quality in which the user can choose from a defined quality list. This quality,
which the user can place at different positions, is called QL-PROV.
When an input card decodes a QL-PROV quality, it appears in the element
interface followed by the quality slightly inferior, configured as in the example
below.

This signifies that the

QL-PROV quality will be
considered as slightly better
than QL-ST3.

"Logical View" Management

1.3.18 QL Unknown Translation

The unknown quality (QL-UNK) no longer exists in the ITU-T G.781 SSM second
generation norm, but this quality is still recognized by the input cards. Thus, an
association to the QL-UNK quality must be configured. When the shelf selects an
input that decodes this quality, it generates an associated quality output
configured as follows :

1.3.19 Holdover Quality of GPS module

The Holdover quality is the SSM quality that the shelf will generate when the GPS
module oscillator is unlocked (no input selected). This quality is configurable and
depends on quality of the oscillator.

ITU-T Option II
T1, 1544 kbit/s norm
qualities.

The holdover quality is also displayed in the element interface, in the GPS
module zone for each module.

1.3.20 QL Enabled/Disabled
SSM functioning of GPS 5581C can be deactivated or activated by the user.
When the SSM mode is deactivated, the selection algorithm no longer considers
the qualities. The input no longer decodes SSM.
If SSM is deactivated, the element interface hides all SSM information.
