Concussion Policy

This course will give the attendee a practical understanding of how
to develop a school policy within their organization. Attendees will
be walked through the steps to create a policy and will see an actual
policy created throughout the webinar. Attendees are encouraged to
ask questions regarding their own protocols and policies.
Attendees will receive electronic course materials and a certificate of
completion.

Target Audience
The target audience for this course is Sports Medicine Physicians,
Primary Care Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants,
Clinical Psychologists, Neuropsychologists, Registered Nurses,
Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, and Athletic Trainers.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this course, the learner will be able to:

Identify the important components of a concussion policy.

List team members that should be part of a comprehensive


concussion policy.

Create a concussion policy that is unique to his or her


organizations or districts unique needs.

advance of the workshop; (ii) reschedule to participate in another
workshop of equal or lesser value; or (iii) substitute someone to
participate in the workshop in your place. If you provide notice to
ImPACT fewer than three (3) calendar days in advance of the
workshop, you may reschedule to participate in another event of
equal or lesser value or substitute someone in your place, but you
cannot receive a refund. All cancellations and refund requests must
be submitted by the purchaser to lmPACT Applications, Inc. and
emailed to training@impacttest.com.

Completion Policy

It is the responsibility of the learner to claim only those hours


actually participated, rounded to the nearest quarter-hour.
Attendance will be tracked through the webinar software.

Continuing Education Credits


Athletic Trainers

ImPACT Applications, Inc. (BOC AP# P3429) is approved


by the Board of Certification, Inc. to provide continuing
education to Athletic Trainers. This program is eligible
for a maximum of 1.5 Category A hours/CEUs. ATs
should claim only those hours actually spent in the
educational program.

Physical Therapists

At this time ImPACT is not able to offer pre-approved continuing


education credits to physical therapists for this course. You will
receive a certificate of attendance for each of our courses with
contact hours listed. Review your state laws to determine if this
training can be applied toward continuing education without
pre-approval.

Physicians

At this time, ImPACT is not able to offer AMA PRA Category 1


Credits. You will receive a certificate of attendance for each of our
courses with contact hours listed. Review your local, state, and
national Medical Society laws to determine if this training can be
applied towards AMA PRA Category 2 Credits. Click here for more

Other Healthcare
Professions

At this time ImPACT is not able to offer continuing education credits


to occupational therapists, psychologists, registered nurses, or
other healthcare professionals. We are in the process of applying to
be able to offer credits to as many disciplines as possible and hope
to have the ability to offer credits at future training events.

Concussion Policy Walkthrough


Jon Almquist, ATC, VATL

Jon Almquist is recognized as an educator, clinician, researcher and administrator. He


received two BS degrees from the Pennsylvania State University. He was employed for over 30
years in the Fairfax County Public School system as an athletic trainer, teacher and
administrator of the athletic training program, starting his career in 1983 and retiring in 2013,
most recently providing administrative oversight to a staff of over 50 Certified Athletic Trainers
(ATCs) who collectively provided comprehensive athletic healthcare for over 25,000 student
athletes annually. He is currently employed by the Fairfax Family Practice Comprehensive
Concussion Clinic as a Concussion Specialist. Almquist is co-owner of JLA Consulting, LLC and
co-developer of a software program designed to organize and track concussion education and
baseline testing for youth athletic associations.
Mr. Almquist is the former Chair of the NATA Secondary School Athletic Trainers Committee
and Appropriate Medical Care for Secondary School Age Athlete Task Force and writing team.
He has served on the Inter Association Task Force and subsequent writing team for the Spine
Injured Athlete and on NATA Task Forces for Exertional Heat Illness and Sudden Death in
Athletics. Almquist has served as Chair of the Athletic Training Advisory Board with Virginia's
Board of Medicine and is currently the Co-Chair of the Sports Medicine Advisory Committee
for the Virginia High School League.
Almquist is the recipient of the NATA Athletic Trainer Service Award (1997), Most Distinguished
Athletic Trainer Award (2006), Virginia Athletic Trainers Associations Hall of Fame, class of
2011, and the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers Associations Hall of Fame, the Delaware Valley
High School Hall of Fame, class of 2012, and most recently has been inducted into the National
Athletic Trainers Associations Hall of Fame, class of 2014.
Mr. Almquist has been involved in research projects since 1997 and has been contributing
author on multiple peer-reviewed scientific publications, produced educational videos and
lectured nationally and internationally on topics related to sports medicine and athletic
training.
