CHANGES TO CANOWINDRA CEMETERY
To avoid graves and headstones being
damaged, Cabonne Council will close a Moyne annual fete
side entrance to Canowindra Cemetery.
The O’Malveney Street entrance will be Saturday 1 May 2010
closed this week to prevent people from

Independent State MP Dawn Fardell has
urged small business owners in the
region to consider applying to become a
member of the Small Business
Development Corporation of NSW.
Ms Fardell said the Corporation – a part-
time advisory body to the NSW Govern-
ment on small business policy, issues
and programs – was looking for suitably
qualified persons with small business
experience, knowledge, skills and com-
mitment to the small business sector.
“There are many talented small business
people across the electorate and I am
sure they would have the skills and the
commitment to the sector that’s needed
on the Small Business Development
Corporation,” Ms Fardell said.
“I would encourage people who think
they have the required skills to apply for
the position and ensure their voices are
heard.”
The selection criteria to be considered for
nomination will include: extensive and
successful history as a small business
owner/manager; demonstrated networks
with small businesses in the relevant
industry sectors; business, professional
and/or technical qualifications relevant to
small business development; proven
leadership skills/abilities;
Knowledge and understanding of policy
issues affecting the operation of small
business sector in NSW; past experience
on private or public sector boards is
preferable.

Cauliflower Leek & Bacon Soup
1 tbs olive oil
250g bacon rashers, rind removed & finely
chopped
2 large leeks, trimmed and sliced
1/2 med cauliflower trimmed and cut into
small florets
2 med potatoes, peeled and chopped
6 cups chicken stock
Salt & ground pepper
1/3 cup light cream
Grated pecorino or parmesan cheese
Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium
high heat until hot. Add bacon and cook,
stirring often 3-4 minutes or until tender.
Remove 2 tbs bacon to a plate and set
aside. Add leeks to pan and cook, stirring
often, until soft.
Add cauliflower, potatoes and stock to pan.
Season with salt and pepper, cover and
bring to the boil, stirring occasionally.
Reduce heat to medium low and cook,
stirring often until vegetables are tender.
Puree soup until smooth and return soup to
pan. Warm soup over low heat. Stir in
cream, do not boil. Serve soup topped with
reserved bacon and grated cheese.

bloodlines at the recent Bathurst Merino
Maiden Ewe Competition.
Out of the 10 flocks entered into the
competition, three direct descendants of
the Winyar ewes took home prizes. First
place went to Terry Dolbel from "Milton
Vale", Rockley; second was Andrew and
Roslyn Larnach, of "Somerton Valley",
Rockley; and fourth place Alva and Julie
Pearce from "Reedy Creek",
Burraga.
