The British Consulate-General in San Francisco has an opportunity for an

energetic, self-motivated individual to join a team focused on fostering
transatlantic business relations between the US and its top economic partner
in Europe, the UK.

UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) is the United Kingdom Government’s

international business development agency. UKTI USA is charged with
assisting US companies looking to invest in the UK and with transatlantic
trade development between the UK and the US. (See

JOB SUMMARY

The advertised post is a Trade & Investment (T&I) Officer, based in the
British Consulate General San Francisco and reporting to the Head of UKTI
San Francisco. Working as part of an integrated T&I team covering Northern
California, Oregon, Washington State, Alaska, Montana, Wyoming, Idaho and
Northern Nevada the Officer will focus on the Telecommunications and
semiconductor sector.

Objectives

To offer a high quality service to UK companies seeking a foothold in the US

market and US companies looking to enter the European market. Specifically,
the post holder will:

• Establish and manage relationships with C level business leaders, key

associations and interlocutors.
• Proactively identify US telecommunications and semiconductor companies
looking to expand or collaborate with the UK.
• Develop and implement marketing programs to build market awareness,
identify and develop key sponsorship activities and attend networking
events to build relationships and generate leads.
• Proactively identify and deliver chargeable services to UK technology
companies.
• Monitor market trends, research and identify market opportunities, and
manage events.
• Line Manage one Business Development Associate

Required skills and experience

• The candidate will be educated to degree level, with at least five years
relevant sales experience.
• The candidate should have a strong understanding of both the US and UK
business environments.
• A broad knowledge of the telecommunication and semiconductor sector

Under US State Department requirements, the Embassy may only employ, as

non-diplomatic staff, persons who are US citizens, US Green Card holders or
A Visa holders. If you hold a Visa other than an A Visa you are not
