Methods of Teaching (101-150)

101. Group Dynamics techniques - involves the interaction of people in a group to


obtain an objective set by the teacher.
102. Units of Instructions organized by topics is a method of teaching where in the
teacher plans the topic by making a short but more detailed map of the lesson that
provides sense of direction to achieve certain academic objectives.
103. Non directive techniques applied to the classroom involves the teacherstudent counseling where the teacher asks questions to students to help them analyze
personal areas of potential intellectual and behavioral growth.
104. Supervised study during class period the class is allowed to study or review
on their own with minimal intervention by the teacher. The teacher is only present to
oversee the students self-study and to address questions or clarifications that may be
raised.
105. Use of sociometric text to make sociometric analysis of class analyzing
social interaction and relationships of students within a class (i.e. formation of certain
cliques in the class) with the use of related text
106. Use of technology and instructional resources making use of additional
materials to provide additional information and aid in the lecture such as projected
slideshows, films or short video clips, audio recordings, printed visual aid such as
posters and pamphlets and the like
107. Open textbook tests, take home tests - allows the student to take notes, texts or
resource materials into an exam situation. They test ones ability to locate and apply
information and knowledge.
108. Put plan/idea into picture - involves illustrating a concept to show clearly the
purpose or vision in mind; helps in goal-setting, idea comprehension, analysis of
relationships among concepts and organization.
109. Write a caption for chart, picture, or cartoon - involves making the student
analyse the material and create meaning from it, it has the students trying to decode the
visual image while encoding it with their own personal and social experiences. It
encourages critical thinking.
110. Reading aloud - involves a teacher or a volunteer reading a certain material; aims
to enhance the student's listening skill and serves as foundation for literacy
development.

111. Differentiated assignment and homework - Giving different assignments to the


class. There may be different assignments for each student or groups of students

educational trip.
113. Mock convention - A practice convention where students talk about the lessons
discussed in class.
114. Filling out forms (income tax, checks) - This teaching method involves letting
students enter information into papers like checks, etc.

students write an opinionated article for the school organ.
116. Attend council meeting, school board meeting - This teaching method involves
letting students attend assemblies like council meetings and school board meetings.
117. Exchanging "things" - This teaching method involves giving and taking of things
which may not only refer to information and facts but may also include experiences,
strategies and life lessons from the teacher to the students (& vice versa).
118. Making announcements - This teaching method seeks to make use of the
advantage of having well-informed students. Teaching with alarmed and updated
students increases the possibility for them to read and study in advance and do well in
class discussions.
119. Taking part (community elections) - This teaching method involves the teacher's
preference to uphold his students' participation in political matters which will be of help
in their education through the application of the students' know-hows regarding current
and political issues.
120. Playing music from other countries or times this teaching method involves
auditory materials such as songs and instrumentals from other countries or times for the
students to have a glimpse of the culture of the country or time it originated.
121. Studying local history this teaching method involves studying important events
that happened in the past concentrated in local community that will make the students
more knowledgeable of how and why their community became what it is in the present.
122. Compile list of older citizens as resource people this teaching method
involves compiling a list of older citizens that are knowledgeable of the events
happened in their time and use them as resource people and witnesses that will justify
historical events for students to understand and appreciate more the history.

123. Students from abroad (exchange students) - It involves a program in which


students from partnering institutions abroad take part in your school for a certain period
of time for the purpose of sharing culture, new ideas, new information and experiences.
124. Obtain free and low cost materials - It involves developing the creativity of a
student by allowing him to make most out of cheap materials for certain purposes in his
field.
125. Collect old magazines - It involves obtaining credible and useful ideas and
information about the conditions of our world from past issues of magazines.
126. Collect colored slides - It is a process of gathering visual materials such as
images, and arranging them in a certain way by a teacher/professor. These are
projected onto a screen, offering visual experience of the things which are commonly
unknown to students.
127. Visit an "ethnic" restaurant - a way to enhance the learning experience of the
students through actual encounter with culture.
128. Specialize in one country - a method of teaching that allows the student to
concentrate on a single idea/topic, encouraging mastery and familiarity of what (country)
is assigned.
129. Follow a world leader (in the media) this involves following a leader who is
well-oriented in this world, knows how to adjust to new ways and has the power to
influence people
130. Visit an employment agency - this is an effective way of learning that gives the
students a broader range of ideas on what to expect on what is going to happen to
them.
131. Start a campaign - this is an effective way to teach the students that help them
apply what they learned and use it to advocate something. It helps them understand
more the lessons taught by applying it to something else.
132. Conduct a series - to plan and do a set that involves the same group of
characters or the same subject, ie. Books, articles, experiments, etc.
133. Investigate a life - this teaching method involves the student to observe and
closely examine a certain living being.
134. Assist an immigrant - to help guide a living being in adapting to its new
environment and learn more about the culture

135. Volunteer (tutoring, hospital) an effective teaching method that involves the
students to volunteer in tutoring homeless kids, assisting in hospitals for an actual
experience.
136. Prepare an exhibit a method that uses artworks, pictures or ideas
that is related to the topic of the class in an exhibit.
137. Detect propaganda a teaching method that involves the students
to discover or notice the spreading of ideas, or rumor s for the purpose of
helping or injuring an institution, a cause, or a person.
138. Join an organization it is taking part in a club of ones choice to improve ones
social skills and to gain and hone the talents utilized in that organization
139. Collect money for a cause it is establishing a fundraiser to help the
universitys adopted community or to give money to an orphanage or a charity of the
schools choice
140. Elect a Hall of Fame for males it is ranking then showcasing the male top
achievers in the class in order to motivate the other students to excel and compete for
the hall of fame
141. Construct a salt map - it is using flour, salt, water and cream of tartar in order to
create a 3-D figure mounted on a cardboard used for showing the elevations of
landforms in countries/continents.
142. Construct a drama - drama is seen as the "play way" to education and it provides
an opportunity for the students to work together cooperatively, express themselves, and
learn how to put themselves in other people's shoes.
143. Elect a "hall of fame" for females - it is creating a list to rank the female top
achievers of the class in order to motivate the students to excel and compete for the
highest ranks/scores.
144. Prepare presentation for senior citizen group a method that
demonstrates or display a product or idea to a senior citizen group
145. Invite senior citizens (to present local history to class including
displaying artifacts (clothing, tools, objects, etc.) a teaching method
that allows students to ask senior citizens to share their knowledge about
the historical events during their time.
146. Prepare mock newspaper on specific topic or era - allows the
students to create a mimic of a newspaper about a specific topic or era
which shows their creativity and craftsmanship.

147. Draw a giant map on floor of classroom - In such an activity, the concrete
details of an historical event are replicated and laid out on the classroom floor. The
chairs are moved next to the walls or into the hall for these activities. One such activity
on the John F. Kennedy (JFK) assassination uses a large-scale map of Dealey Plaza.
148. Research local archaeological site - Acts or periods of investigation and study of
a site.
149. Exchange program with schools from different parts of the state - A program
in which students from a secondary school or university study abroad at one of their
partner institutions.
150. In brainstorming small group, students identify a list of techniques and
strategies that best fit their class - A group of students think of ideas and ways of
solving problems, how they deal with things, their strengths and weaknesses together
and spontaneously.
